shot/reverse shot: Shot reverse shot (or shot/countershot) is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character (often off-screen), and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character.
eyeline match: Eyeline matching is a film editing technique associated with continuity editing to help establish a logical coherence between shots and make the storytelling smooth, logical and continuous.
action match:Cutting on action or matching on action refers to film editing and video editing techniques where the editor cuts from one shot to another view that matches the first shot's action.

Non-Diegetic Sound: This is sound that can not be seen on screen and the source of the sound is not present. I.E, a soundtrack, a character's theme.

Ambient- Ambient sounds are sounds that are present in the background of a location. Common types of these ambient sounds tend to be water, wind, birds, crowds, noises, frogs and traffic. Ambient sounds in film are very important because they add a sense of reality to what is being shown to the audience.

Synchronous Sound- Synchronous sound is sound that matches an action that is being shown on screen, this tends to be in form of footsteps that correspond with feet walking, this is even the case with a character's speech.

Asynchronous Sound- Asynchronous sounds match the action that is being made by something on screen, however, they are not precisely synchronised with the action.

Mode of address - A genre is semiotic code in which we are seen as the ideal readers- through particular modes of address. This can be a way an addresser and the addressee are constructed in a text. 
1st/2nd/3rd person -narration 

Direct address- This is the name of the person you are directly talking to.

Accent- A certain way of pronouncing a language- this varies based on where you are from, and your social class. 

Tone- This is the attitude, behaviour and style that you use when talking. This can change based on emotions or who you are addressing. 

Rhythm-The flow or words and phrases in a verse- based on the long or shot/ stressed or unstressed syllables. 

Overlapping dialogue- This is when you arrange the dialogue so that it crosses over from a shot of character A to a shot of character B.
