Hi everyone,

My name is Adele and I am currently in an acting Head of Department role at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School (HASS and VET). Our school has Years 7 - 10. I teach Year 10 HASS and Year 9 Work Studies (I have had to give up my Year 10 Work Studies since taking on the role). I also monitor the Work Place Learning program.
I have previously completed several online courses and really enjoy the freedom and pace that it allows you to complete the work (I prefer being able to consider my responses to questions before speaking and the online environment allows perfectly for this!). I look forward to getting to know the other people on this course and expanding my knowledge of leadership in different contexts as well as expanding my knowledge of the Professional Standards for Principals (and other Level 3 and above roles). I have also started to writing my application to be a Level 3 classroom teacher so I think this course will be really helpful.
Outside of school, I like to travel, although I haven't done much travel in the last year or so; I think I need to fix that soon :-)
I'll also have to find a photo to upload tomorrow as well

I’ve enjoyed my leadership journey so far – Year Coordinator, Head of English, TDC for English in the Outcomes days, now Associate Principal. The question is can I push it to the next level, or is it time to move sideways…? Doing this course is one way to explore my options further.

When not at school l love to read, sleep, eat and be in quiet places with friends. I hate to exercise and cook – but I force myself to do it. I have spent my whole teaching career in country schools (except for that first year in Swan View), and can’t see myself living in the city. Looking forward to having my brain activated in different ways and getting it out of the day-to-day dramas of everyday school life.
