Passage1:
NASA physician Clinton (2003) states that keeping astronaut mentally fit is considered to be another main concern. As an inevitable consequence of long term stay in constrain and dark places leads to anxiety. Other obstacles to maintain astronaut psychological health are loneliness and boredom.

Passage 2:
Lastly, it is still remained a question on the way astronaut can overcome the situation when they fail to reach mutual agreement. When there is obligation to stick together in confined places over an extended period of time, conflict might arise even between closed-knitted friends. Congested and lack of privacy living space is one of the contributors of stress among astronauts. In addition, the discomfort can also be built up because outer space expedition is not encouraged due to its jeopardy (Clinton, 2003).

Passage 3:
In the letter that was published on Time Magazine, Cory Brunish (2004) questions the reasons scientists are wasting too much time on space expedition to Mar while it provided non-related solution to improve the Earth. Those fortunes could have spent on our planet’s development. The desired resulted in finding solution for epidemics, environmental pollution and helping the hunger would have been more achievable if we had used the money for these reasons. We should prioritize serious issues on Earth such as homelessness, poverty and unemployment, yet we spend time on space exploration despite potential risk it might bring.

Passage 4:

While traveling to Mars, pace is everything. Not only because the long term travel in a limited area is distressing but also astronauts might suffer from harmful radiation. In comparison to the orbit and the path to moon, there is lack of Earth’s magnetic field in deep space. As a consequence, astronauts are more unprotected to the lethal grandiose energy (Kluger,2004).

REFERENCES:

Burnish, C. (2004).
Group 3 (Passage 1) Retaining
astronaut’s mental health is the second primary issue. Anxiety is obviously produced
from being isolated in dark and dangerous place for a long period. Other mental
problems happen when they feel lonely and bored (Clinton, 2003, p 18).

                                                                                                                                                                                                  (Passage 2) Eventually,
there is a question that how spacemen solve their anger when their mutual
problems increase. (No matter how intimate each other, they can get fight when they are put together in a long period in isolated place. )Even if intimate friends are put together in a long period
in isolated place, they can get angry. A habitable artificial satellite is
tiny, crowded and hard work environment and there is little privacy. In addition,
Expedition of space is harsh, causing more stress abroad a spaceship(Clinton, 2003). (Passage 3) Is there
any reason that we have to take enormous time to approach to Mars instead of having a
big opportunity to enhance the Earth? There is a question whether to invest a large amount of money on the
Earth. Giving opinions on create new treatment for Cancer, AIDS, other diseases
such as making water, air and soil in
better condition and helping poor countries. (as cited in Brunish, 2004, p 9) (Passage 4) There is
another reason that velocity is a key to reach Mars, not only because it is a hard time travelling for
a long time in isolated space. Being exposed to Radiation in huge
space ,where there is absence of Earth’s gravity, can be deadly worse issue to
spacemen instead of going around an orbit or the moon. (Kluger, 2004, p 48)

Group 2

According to Clinton (2003), mental health ofastronauts confer the second crucial issue. Restricting them for a long time in darkness and harmful places lead to anxiety. Psychological disorder such as isolation and frustration are other impact on them (p18).

Astronauts get let off steam when interpersonal conflict develops. It develops among them because of irritation due to staying in claustrophobic place for a long period of time where there is little privacy and busy work schedule. For e.g. even if we spend a long period of time with our favorite friends it causes irritation to us. Furthermore, it is very risky to be in space which is more stressful contributing more conflicts (Clinton, 2003)

Brunish (2004) states that despite of spending billions to go to Mars there may not be ameliorate on our planet. Those amount could rather be used to enhance our planets basic needs like feeding the poor, curing medical conditions and preventing pollution. Instead of challenging these dangers of the galaxy we should concentrate on the economic concern of the earth. (p9)

A long travel in bounded space could be painful, hence velocity in essential to Mars.
