The meaning of the Oath of Enlistment is a verbal bond (contract) to support and defend the constitution of the United States, its people, and country.

When an Airman takes the Oath of Enlistment it means that we are placing others before themselves, giving up certain freedoms that civilians may have, and to work hard, train hard, and sacrifice regularly as they continue to master their profession, the profession of arms.

The Profession of Arms means to be a practitioner of warfare, to be entrusted with the security of our people, the mindset of something greater than yourself, and to strive to be the best.

The Core Values are Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in all we do. We must do the right thing, no matter what, in every circumstance and by putting service before self, we are able to serve expeditiously, capable of fulfilling deployment requirements at distant locations worldwide any given time, but this also gives us a commitment to our families as well. By doing excellence in all we do, we take pride in our work and if people are interested or even enthused about their job, it makes the workplace better, the Airman better, and the overall effectiveness goes up in each unit.

The Warrior Ethos is a mindset, a warrior spirit that, in some respect, requires Airmen to change how they think about our Air Force. To have an unrelenting and consistent determination to do what is right and to do it with pride, both in war and in military operations other than war, while helping to spur our resiliency to fight through all conditions to victory, no matter how long it takes and no matter how much effort is required.
