Shapes are all around us! They bring us to school, we sleep on them, and we play at recess with them. Today students will be able to name and draw shapes! There will be squares, rectangles, circles, and triangles. First, I want everyone in the room to look around and try to find objects in our classroom you think our shapes! Talk to a partner to see what they found.

Square

What is a square? It is a flat shape with four equal sides, and all of those sides come to a corner. If you make an 'L' with you hand, that's what a corner looks like.
