This month's book of the month is "Revolting Rhymes" by Roald Dahl. This is a brilliant, irreverent rewriting of classic fairy tales in hilarious rhyming couplets. Find out why Cinders doesn't marry the prince, what happens to Jack's mum, & why Red Riding Hood no longer wears a red riding hood...Dahl returns the star-wishing happily-ever-afters of Disney to its darker, Grimmer roots, with added surrealistic contemporary scenery. Roald Dahl is like that slightly disreputable uncle who always turns up at weddings & funerals, who manages to add a bit of mischief & mahem to any social occasion. He makes grown-ups frown, & children laugh with amazement & delight. My uncle was called Uncle Cyril.
