In this story, Tricia is a young girl who later finds her worth in how valuable reading is. She struggles with learning how to read in school, and one day, her family moves to a new state. This is where she eventually meets Mr. Falker, her fifth grade teacher, who teaches her that she is valuable no matter what others say and doesn't give up on her with learning how to read. After much practice with Mr. Falker and another teacher, that's when she learns to read. She remembers the time, from the beginning of the book, when her grandpa reminds her that knowledge is sweet by using the analogy of honey. As the story closes, the author, Patricia Polacco, lets the audience know that she was actually the little girl in the book. She told of her experience with the teacher who made that special difference in her life.

This book tells about the life of Taylor Swift. Though Taylor is still young, she has been a part of many life experiences that have led her to where she is now. Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989 in Pennsylvania. A famous musician herself, Taylor Swift was named after another famous musician, James Taylor. Christmas was Taylor's favorite holiday, which she has a song about called "Christmas Tree Farm." When Taylor turned eleven years old, she was able to convince her parents to take her to Nashville, and that began her entire musical career! Two years later, at the age of thirteen, Taylor got the offer from RCA Records to work with them. Taylor Swift's first album, called "Taylor Swift," came out when she was sixteen years old. Most of Taylor's songs are inspired by her personal life experiences. Taylor Swift is thankful for all of her fans, and she is happy to be able to share her music with the world.

We taste yummy foods, like watermelon and apples. We can even use all five senses at once to make sense of the world!

One day, the little red hen made a cake, and when she asked who would eat it, the frog and cat both said they would. However, the little red hen did not give it to them and instead, she ran away with it so that she could eat it all by herself. In the United States, Mexican Americans celebrate this holiday by showing pride in their Mexican heritage. They attend parties and parades throughout the day. The Aztec people were very famous thousands of years ago. In 1862, the French army stopped in Puebla, Mexico, and the people of Puebla attacked the French. This is now known as the Battle of Puebla. Once the French left for good in 1867, Benito Juarez became the president of Mexico and made May 5th a national holiday, or what we know of now as Cinco de Mayo.

Someone had given her mama a box of rags, and she used those rags to make Dolly a coat of many colors. Though Dolly's family had no money, she felt so rich in her new coat. Dolly's mama told her about Joseph from the Bible and how he, too, had a coat of many colors. As Dolly proudly wore her new coat to school, she walked up to find all the children laughing at her. Dolly told them how her coat was worth more than all of their gold, but that was something they couldn't understand. Dolly is proud to have her coat of many colors, and the memories of watching her mama make it just for her.

In this book, the narrator is writing about his voyage on a ship throughout a series of days. He begins by discussing their days, and what each day holds throughout their journey. As they continue their voyage, the captain discovers a stone on an island and brings it back to the ship. As time continues, the rock glows, so the captain covers it up. The sailors locked themselves in the room with the stone, and it turned them into apes. At the end of the book, the sailors go back to humans, but they crave bananas. The connection between the stone and glowing features gives a hint to how the stone represents a television. In today's world, a TV can be seen to "suck the life out of people", and that is what the stone did throughout their voyage and the course of the book.

The only thing they want is to show her their appreciation for the fried chicken she makes every Sunday. They know how much she eyes the Easter hat in the window of Mr. Kodinski's store. Mr. Kodinski is a cranky man, and the children know that it would be a challenge to ask for a favor. They come up with an idea to sell eggs, which represents Mr. Kodinski's culture. The children made enough money to buy the hat for Miss Eula, but Mr. Kodinski told them to keep their money. Instead, he gave them the hat for free. When the children gave Miss Eula the hat, she was overjoyed. The children were proud of themselves for the hard work they had done to buy her the one thing she wanted more than anything.

When Max asked the same question, Mama told Max that she loved him the reddest. Together, their colors made purple, and that's what Mama loved best about them.
