In this week we learn abouth the "wh question", because of your importance in the dialogue with the people, it we helps the to make sentences and increment in our vocabulary. We start with the question word (WH word), followed by the auxiliary "do" or "does" (depending on the subject), and then the subject and the verb in the base form (infinitive).

For example:

What do you do for a living?

Jobs and Workplace

During Samara's classes, we got to know some professions and places of employment. However, I would like to add a few more characteristics about the job.

Employment types (full-time, part-time, temporary, freelance). "Full-time jobs require you to work around 40 hours per week, while part-time jobs are for fewer hours. Temporary jobs are for a specific period of time, and freelance jobs allow you to work independently.

Job titles (manager, accountant, engineer, receptionist, etc.). "A manager is someone who oversees a team or department, while an accountant deals with financial records. An engineer designs and builds things, and a receptionist greets visitors and answers phones."

Workplace environments (office, factory, hospital, restaurant, etc.). "An office is a common workplace where people do administrative work, while a factory is where goods are produced. Hospitals provide medical care, and restaurants serve food."

Skills and qualifications (communication skills, technical skills, experience, education). "Communication skills are important for interacting with others, and technical skills are needed for specific tasks. Experience and education can also affect your qualifications for a job."

Recruitment process (resume, cover letter, interview, job offer). "You start by sending a resume, which is a document summarizing your work experience and skills. A cover letter accompanies your resume and explains why you're a good fit for the job. If they're interested, they'll invite you for an interview and may offer you the job afterward."

We briefly read Chapter 14, from the book Child of the Dark, by Carolina de Jesus.

I had no doubts regarding this topic.

In the first week, we learned to introduce ourselves and use the verb to be and possessive adjectives. We also learned how to use questions and use yes/no questions and expressions on how to say goodbye.

Possessive adjectives are words that indicate possession and relationships between beings. They are: my, your, his her, her her, its her, our, your, their her. Possessive adjectives are different from possessive pronouns, although we do not make this distinction in Portuguese. Possessive pronouns replace names (nouns).

We learn professions using the present simple, routines, wh-questions and temporal expressions.

I had no doubts regarding this topic.

During the 6th week, we worked on familiar vocabulary, present continuous and a grammatical topic on the use of ing in verb forms. The most difficult topic was the rules for verbs with one or more syllables.

At home I did exercises that helped me memorize the rules for the present continuous.
