Bruce the shark tells Marlin and Dory that he won't eat them, but then tries to eat them, and because of him, Marlin and Dory lose goggles with Nemo's address.

When the hero has to face their threshold guardian before they pass into the unknown. This person is usually very deceitful and not who they appear to be .

This is when Dory and Marlin get swallowed by a whale and Dory has to speak whale to escape.

Hero is swallowed, usually metaphorically but sometimes literally, by a creature or monster (or a huge problem).

In Finding Nemo Marlin and Dory go through many trials that they overcome, such as the jellyfish and the angler fish.

The hero continues to go through their journey, going through many challenges sent by symbolic people. The hero usually fails one or two missions but continues to overcome them.

Summary:

The hero meets the goddess or queen of the world. This person is often feminine and serves to make the character whole. Normally the goal is to fall in love with the goddess.

The temptation for Dory is the little baby jellyfish, they lead her and Malrin into a huge smack of jellyfish that almost kills her and Marlin.

This could be a material or physical temptation to throw the hero off course. This ultimately leaves them a choice to choose.

Crush is the father figure, he helps Marlin by giving them directions and showing him that children can do things by themselves, you have to let go.

This is the center point of the story, the hero must face what holds power over their life, and this is usually shown by the father figure.

This is when Nemo is escaping the fish tank and the audience is worried that Marlin and Nemo will not notice each other and the whole mission will have failed.

After pushing past their fear, they become "enlightened". They often reject their parent's flaws.

This is when Marlin finally is reunited with his son NEMO!

The hero finally achieves the main point of their journey, sometimes this means destroying or avenging something.

Although our hero does not refuse his return, he does pass on his knowledge by telling Nemo about his journey.

In Finding Nemo, this is when Dory and lots of other fish get caught in a huge fishing net and almost die.

If the hero decides to make the journey home, they are faced with more dangerous challenges.

In this case, Nemo would be the rescue, he swims in and tells all the fish to swim down and break the fishing net. This works, and all the fish are saved.

This is when the ally surprisingly comes in to save the hero.

When Marlin gets home and lets Nemo go to school by himself.

This is when the hero returns home and tries to incorporate what he learned into his every day life.

This is when Marlin not only lets Nemo live a normal life but he also goes out and socializes and participates in his community.

The hero's goal is to connect his new findings but also to achieve balance in their everyday life.

The freedom to live comes when Nemo, Marlin, and Dory get back to their home and live happily ever after until the sequel.
