My Life Story

I was born in Los Angeles, California in 2011. I was born to both my parents they were both from Mexico. I've lived here my whole life. I have 3 siblings, two older brothers and one little sister. My older brothers were born in a small town in Morelos, Mexico, and my sister was born in California. I frequently visit Morelos, Mexico to visit my big family that lives there. Some of my cousins, aunts, uncles, and my grandparents all live in Mexico so I like to visit them when I can. Morelos is a beautiful place to visit in my opinion my town is a little old and worn out but it's still a wonderful place to visit. My town is on a little mountain and my family lives on a farm and they have a big land where they grow all kinds of fruits and vegetables.

All my family is originally from Mexico. All my aunts, uncles, and grandparents except most cousins. My grandma and grandpa from my dad's side had twelve kids in total. Seven boys and five girls. My grandma and grandpa on my mom's side had seven kids total. They had three boys and four girls. My dad decided to move my mom and two brothers all to LA. He did this to build a better life for his family.

The Mexican Flag

The national flag of Mexico went through many designs before the finished product but on September 16th 1968. Ever since then this has been the Mexican flag. All the colors on the flag represent something to the country. The green on the flag represents hope and victory, the white represents unity, and the red pays tribute to all the nations heroes who have fought for Mexico over the years. The eagle on the flag symbolizes victory. In the Aztec culture it also represented the sun. The snake in the eagle's mouth symbolizes evil on earth, which the eagle prevails. The cactus the eagle stands on symbolizes challenge and the building of civilization on Mexico's ancient land. Lastly the stand that holds the cactus symbolizes water, where land is rooted as a hope of good land for farming.

Before Mexico became its own country, Colonial Mexico was part of the Spanish Empire. Mexico was administered by the Viceroyalty of New Spain. Independence was achieved when most of the Royalist Force colonies chose to stand up against the liberal regime in Spain. It's said Ancient Mexico has produced five major civilizations. The famous five are the Olmec, Maya, Teotihuacan, Toltec, And lastly the Aztec.

Mexico's Currency

Mexican money is very different from American money. For example, every American dollar is 19 Mexican pesos. This means you will have to carry around a lot of coins because they only made a big amount of pesos in paper currency. In America we call our currency by dollars. In Mexico they call their currency by pesos. The first ever peso was introduced in 1836. Ever since then the peso coin design has been thriving as the number one form of Mexican currency.

Mexico's culture And Traditions

Folklórico is a type of dance, music, and costume which highlights several Mexican cultures the dances symbolize stories and events in history. Some people believe when the Spanish conquerors invaded they introduced these dances to Mexico. However, the indigenous peoples of Mexico claim to have already followed these traditional dances and music. Nowadays there are many new forms of dancing and Mexicans love to embrace their culture by still following this tradition and passing it down to the newest generation.

Red pozole is one of the most iconic Mexican foods. This dish is my personal favorite. pozole is soup. Its main ingredients are meat, chili, corn, and other ingredients. pozole is also usually topped with an assortment of lettuce, cabbage, onion,chili, radish, and cilantro. There are many different kinds of pozole there that are green, spicy, plain, and even sweet kinds of pozole. Red Pozole is my favorite because it's perfect for a cold winter day and it has the spice, flavor, and freshness of the toppings.

La Llorona is a scary folk tale mexican's told their kids to teach them to be safe.The legend says it's about la Llorona (Crying Woman). Llorona was about a lost soul crying near Mexican rivers every night for her kids. She cried for her kids because its said that when she was alive her husband cheated on her with another woman. Out of anger she drowned her kids in the village river. After realizing what she had done she took her own life. Now it is said her vengeful soul roams around the rivers of Mexico.

Mariachi is a big part of Mexican culture. Mariachi symbolizes global Mexican identity. The Mariachi music is so iconic when people hear Mexican music they recognize the Mexican sound, this represents a homegrown tradition that embraces Mexican culture. Their trajes (suits) are a sign of respect for the Mexican country and culture. Nowadays Mariachi are still representing Mexico in big ways, and they are still thriving as a form of appreciation and honor for Mexican culture.
