Dirty Harry (1971)

(By Eduardo)
Across from a bank, Inspector Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) sits down for a hot dog lunch. He asks the cook behind the counter if the car across the street, in front of the bank, is still running. The cook says it is, and Harry tells him to call the police - there is an armed robbery in progress at that bank. No sooner does he say this than the banks alarms go off and gunfire erupts. Harry takes a bite of his hot dog, swears, and then heads out to face the robbers. He orders one man to freeze, and the man shoots at Harry with a shotgun, who returns fire. The men in the car speed toward Harry, but he shoots into the windshield, causing them to crash into a fire hydrant and flip the car over. One man jumps out and shoots at Harry, who shoots back and kills him. He looks down at his leg, shot and bleeding, but he seems unaffected.

Harry strolls through the spraying water of the fire hydrant, to the wounded man by the entrance of the bank. The man's hand moves slowly toward his dropped shotgun, and Harry makes his famous "six-shots-or-only-five" speech. The man cowers and surrenders. Harry picks up the shotgun, and the robber stops him. "Hey I got to know." he asks. Harry raises his .44 Magnum and pulls the trigger. Harry fooled the wounded robber into giving up. The gun is empty.

The Goonies (directed by Richard Donner, 1985)

(by Bea P.)
The Goonies tells the story of a band of kids who live in the same neighbourhood whose homes are going to be demolished. The adventure begins when, trying to save their homes from demolition, they discover a treasure map who belonged to One-eyed Willy, a pirate of the 17th century. This pirate and his crew went missing after being followed by the British Army due to a big robbery they had carried out. The band decides then to look for the treasure that could resolve the economic problem that their neighbourhood is suffering.
The search for the missing treasure takes them to an underground adventure avoiding all kinds of traps that the pirates left behind them. In addition, during the entire adventure, the band is caught by a family of criminals who also want the treasure for themselves.
During the shooting of the film, the director (Richard Donner) wanted the actors to rustle up as much as possible in order to get the most realistic and natural surprised expressions on their faces. That is why, for example, they were not allowed to see the pirates' boat at any moment, so when they were filming that scene and they saw the boat for the first time, their reactions were completely real.
The Goonies is one of the most popular films among teenagers in the 80's and, in fact, it has become a cult film.

(By Silvia)
The story is set in Italy in 1939. At this time the Second World War is taking place. Guido Orefice (Roberto Begnini) is a really funny, cheerful and charismatic Jewish Italian bookseller. He is married to Nora and they have a son. The first part of the film shows the important political changes in the world and the advance of the fascism and how Jewish are stalked.

Guido´s family is arrested and taken to a concentration camp as prisoners. There, men and women are separated. Guido wants to prevent his son, Giosue from feeling frightened and makes up a story. Guido recounts his son that they playing a game and they need to win 1000 points to get an armored car.

In the gripping sense, a German soldier comes in the barracks and asks for someone who can translate German to the prisoners. Although Guido doesn´t know any word of German he raises his hand and goes straightaway to the soldier. The German soldier starts to speak in a very rough and loud voice. Guido translates his words: “The game is starting”, “It´s necessary 1000 points to win”, “The award is an armored car”, “Every day the ranking will be announced by the loudspeakers” “There are 3 states which make you lose points: First, crying, second, wanting to see your mum and third, being hungry and asking for a meal”.

It´s really amazing, nice and sweet how Guido uses his imagination to protect Giosue and his son´s face reflects how thrilled he is about the game and the innocence of the childhood. This feeling really grabs me.

(By Noelia)
Winner of 11 oscars and based on the real story of a great boat (Titanic 1912), which promised a wonderful and spectacular trip, but nevertheless ends up sinking in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, when the boat crashes into an iceberg. One of the passenger, Rose (Kate Winslet), a woman who lives in a world dominated by men, is not willing to live her new and boring life, falls in love with Jack (Leonardo Di Caprio), who is passionate about living new adventures. A mix of love and drama where one of the most important scenes is when both are in the middle of nowhere, helpless, very cold due to the low temperature of the water. After a lot of dramatic moments during the film, they have to separate because Jack doesn't allow her to die there, since the piece of wood they are holding on is not big enough for both of them. He sinks while she is watching him. A fabulous film where we can see how love moves the world.

The script is based on the childhood of the director herself. The film was selected by Spain for the Best Foreign Language Film in the 90 Academy Awards. The film is set in Girona. The main characters are Frida who is played by Laia Artigas, her uncle Esteve, his wife Marga, and his daughter Anna who is four years old.

After her mother's death, Frida, who is six years old, is sent to her uncle's family to live with them in the countryside.

(By Loly)
Mama Mia is a romantic comedy film based on the 1999 musical of the same name, with the songs of the successful pop group ABBA. Most of the outdoor scenes were shot on the Greek Islands of Skiathos and Skopelos.
I would like to focus on one of my favorite scenes of this amazing movie( I honestly think that it is the climax of the movie). During the wedding party, the floor in Donnas’s house cracks open and the water from Aphrodite’s fountain shoots out.
The soundtrack of this magical moment is Abba’s Hole in your soul. I really enjoy seeing this spontaneous euphoria which fits perfectly with the song. Everybody is dancing, singing and having fun.
I’m sure this movie will lift you right up!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

The well-known science fiction film, The Last Jedi, is the latest film of the Star Wars franchise, produced by Katheleen Kennedy and written and directed by Rian Johnson.

As customary, the plot is located in space and on planets far away from our Earth.

The movie has an outstanding cast, you can enjoy with the legendary old actors who were immensely popular in the beginning of the saga.

Carry Fisher, who recently died, is one of the best characters in this story, in her role of Leia Organa one of the leaders of the Resistance, who are fighting all the time with the forces of evil, the dark side of the force.

There are a new generation of young actors like Adam Driver who has a great role against the resistance, and Daisy Ridley as Rei, addressing the profound questions about the Jedis and her light force. Special attention deserves the role of the old Mark Hamyl who plays the role of Sky Walker, who has lost all hope of teaching the knowledge of the Jedi..

The main tension arises with the last scenes, where you can´t expect what will happen next when part of the resistance had no escape against the military forces of the death star.

Many places offer the spectator outstanding views from our planet, in fact, we can observe the Salar the Uyuni salt flats in Bolivia or the vertical cliffs from the coast of Ireland. Besides the special effects inside the image, you can look up unreal spaces all over the space like aerospace ships, and weird civilisations located in surrealistic planets. Apart from that, the costumes of the actors involved in the different scenes of the film are stunning.

Also, the soundtrack is really important on what is happening in all the scenes because it can contribute to raise the tension between the plot and the images. John Williams uses the previous and classic sounds for the trylogy and he brings the spectator new themes based on songs from Brazil for one of the action scenes.

On the whole, you can see this film with great pleasure if you are a Star Wars fan, and you can breath the neat essence of the second part of this trilogy. Contrary to popular belief, for many viewers this is not the best Star Wars film, but I am personally very pleased with this film because you can take in what the force means for all the Universe.

(By Soraya)
The story is set in New Zealand, where an abandoned boy, Ricky, gets to the Faulkners´ farm, a couple who don´t have any children. At the beginning, Ricky runs away every night, but later, thanks to the generosity of Bella, his foster mother, the protagonist undergoes a change in his behaviour and he grows fond of them. Suddenly, Bella dies and authorities want Ricky to go back to the reformatory. Ricky and his foster father flee the farm hiding in the mountains. After chasing cars both of them are hunted.
At the end of the film Ricky and the uncle end up together.
I recommend this movie because it's fun, moreover teaches us values like kindness and hospitality.

(By Nerea)
I want to describe one scene in this book based on a true story that happened in 1972, when a flight with forty five rugby players crashed in the Andes. In the end, only sixteen survivors were rescued because two brave men made a trip of ten days (a ten day trip) walking through the freezing snow.
These two men didn't have too much to eat and more than twenty years after reading this novel I remember vividly how much I laughed outloud when they found a cow in a field and they discussed the possible ways the cow could be killed without any weapon.
