Something I thought was interesting about the Video was how when they were talking about land back the topic wasn’t about owning the land and claiming it. They were talking about honoring the people who it was stolen from and having a family like relationship with the land instead of using it only as a resource. I think it’s really amazing that we’re moving on from the thought that humans can own land and earth.

But, It's not just recovering land, it is also to recognize that the things invented and happened on this continent are land stolen from Native people. It gives leadership back to Native people to bring back their culture, and stewardship. It aims to not only benefit Native people, it aims to benefit everyone, including nature (Ex. endangered species).

In the video, Sergio describes Land-Back as a widespread Indigenous lead movement focused on reclaiming and returning stolen land to the Indigenous people of the area. the Land-Back movement is focused on returning stolen land to Native people, however it is also focused on recognizing the harm that has been caused, and continues to be caused by the colonial perspectives of this country. The movement gives leadership back to Native people to strengthen their culture, practices, and to tend their homelands in reciprocal practices that benefit the people living on the land as well as the animals and plants.

In the video Sergio defines land back as "a movement to give leadership to tribal nations for them to recover land", and in this way they can bring back their culture and languages as well as their stewardship of the land and ecological knowledge. He talks about the benefits of this, not only for humans, but more importantly for the plants and animals. He then goes on to say that many people like to argue that there is no proof that Native Americans ever owned the land, and his response is that it is a very European concept to own land, and you can serve, help or be a part of the land around you, but you can never really own it. just because you put some sticks in the ground doesn't mean that the ground there belongs to you.
