Rachael Kirwan is an experienced Project and Engagement Manager within Warwick's Business Partnerships Team. Her journey at Warwick began as a Philosophy undergraduate over 26 years ago, and since then, she has built a unique blend of academic insight and business acumen. I am usually very short when I write and this wont be any different!

I have spent my career working on fundamental materials and industrial applications of materials. This includes testing regimes (to standards or just to check performance), how things can be modified and still fit for purpose. I love techniques or 'toys' as I fondly call them! this ranges from EM, SAXS, Mech and thermal testing and so much more!

On the other side I am keen on research culture and how we all work together. I believe we are better as the some of our parts and very big on collaboration. I am dyslexic so there are some things I do very well and some things I am very poor at.

I am also the proud owner of a 43kg(!) golden doodle

My personal practice explores sustainable materials and circular processes. with a focus on designing for interconnected living with the planet and other ecosystems. I work with bio-based pulps and natural fibers, with an aim to understand their processability.

I am currently studying a Year In Industry placement at WMG. working on different projects spanning from bio-polymer testing to projects around research culture and cross-disciplinary communication.

I am really excited about research and am interested in studying a PHD in material innovation after my studies.
