By showing domestic workers humanity, paying them fairly, and treating them with respect, anyone can make a meaningful impact on their lives. Little acts of kindness like taking a moment to ask how they’re doing, actively listening to their responses, or including them in family activities can build a sense of belonging and appreciation. They are constantly reminded by these actions that they are more than workers they are a part of the family. A more equal society must be accomplished by changing this way of thinking. To emphasize the value of domestic workers and the respect of those who perform them, there must be ongoing training and awareness-raising. We may create an environment of respect and equality for all by recognizing what they do and standing up for their rights.

Hi Jessica, I hope you are doing well and you are safe where you are right now. I know things have been tough in your life and what you have been through is traumatizing but I believe in change and I hope you do too. Lebanon might be your worst nightmare but I hope you would find comfort in it. There are many people or you could say companies/agencies trying their best to give you what is humane and right and what should have been your life from the second you stepped into Lebanon. Don't let go of the hope of staying happy and safe in that country because change is coming its way there for you and the millions who suffered what you had to suffer too. Be happy and believe and everything will be alright. Take care.

A letter to Jessica:

Dear Jessica,

I hope you’re doing well and feeling safe wherever you are right now. I can only imagine the weight you’ve been carrying, and I know the experiences you’ve been through are deeply painful and overwhelming. Life has tested you in ways that are hard to put into words, but I believe in your strength, and I hope you can find the belief in yourself as well.

Lebanon might seem like a harsh place, full of difficulties that you never asked for, but I hope you can find small moments of solace amid the chaos. There are people and organizations that genuinely care, trying their best to offer you the humanity and dignity that should have always been yours from the very beginning. The road to recovery and peace may seem distant, but step by step, you’re moving closer to it.

Hold on to hope, even when it feels like everything around you is uncertain. Change is on the horizon, not only for you but for the countless others who have been through similar struggles. Remember that you are not alone in this fight, and your courage will pave the way toward better days.

Keep your heart open to the possibility of healing, and know that you deserve the happiness and safety you seek. Though the path may be long, I believe that everything will eventually fall into place. Until then, be gentle with yourself, stay strong, and keep believing that brighter days are ahead.

Take care of yourself, Wish best wishes,

Caren charaf
