My name is Lorena and I am a secondary school teacher in Calabria (southern Italy). I live and work there, but I was born and raised in the United States, New York precisely. Both my parents are  Italian, so that's why I'm here! We moved here when I was 16.
I attended my studies in Italy and today I am an English teacher for secondary schools.
My students are aged 13-18 and they respectively attend: a high school specializing in scientific studies (liceo scientifico) and one specializing in languages (liceo linguistico). I teach in the last three years of both courses. The school is called IIS "E. Ferrari" in Chiaravalle Centrale, Catanzaro (Italy).
The project we would like to carry out is to create a European secondary school, with our students as teachers. Hi,
I ‘m Ermelinda from Ferentino. Ferentino is a little town in the centre of Italy not far away from Rome and Naples; it is ancient with a lot of monuments from different times. I live and work in Ferentino. I am a teacher of English in a secondary high school, and specifically I teach English in scientific and linguistic course classes. Recently, I have participated to TCA Seminar in Naples. It was an amazing experience and I felt very involved in the issues and themes discussed there. I am Interested in Civic Engagement and how I can spread the “Educazione Linguistica Democratica” in the plan of my subjects and the several topics I ask to my students to carry out. My students are from 16 to 18 years old. They have a lot of interests and feel active and seriously try to do their best. I would like to plan and share a project starting from the objectives of Agenda 2030 and in the relation with the sense of civic Engagement and the Linguistic Education because my main ambition is to make my students discover the sense of democracy in the topics, they develop with me at school building up their competence. I am also very interested in making my students discover the “beauty” of pluricultural and plurilingual values of what they usually study and to do it well they need to study languages, or the languages of each subject taught.

I teach Civic Education for children aged 11-15 and I’m the one in our school who coordinates every child team (peer learning, student council, TiPiDi – team for prevention of discrimination, mediation team). We have a very educated and active team of pupils who works with adults in projects by my help and leadership, their level of participation is on the highest level, they are peer educators. In the past few months we implemented a very creative, interactive and highly effective activities together (after 2 years of educational workshops): workshops for children, forum theatre, debate club, rap section, living library, focus groups, TedX talks, study visits etc., we participated in the Design for Change challenge for 2022. and represented Serbia with student’s project „We are All Equal Under the Sun” in Malaysia in November 2022. on Be the Change 2022. global conference. One of the most active student is the member of DFC Global Student Council 2023. So, we teach our students to feel, imagine, do and share their ideas of making changes in the lives of children around us. They are the carriers of the positive changes not only in the school, but in the local community as well.
We presented our projects in Vojvodina and Serbia (and in Malaysia), but their huge engagement in the field of prevention of discrimination, developing inclusive society and tolerance, interculturality and their commitment to human rights and equality is so precious that they have many qualitative things to offer, in one hand. But they always have a desire to grow, change, implement something new, different, they are opened to innovations, so if they could get engaged in international eTwinning project it would be a unique opportunity for them while are they in our school and could be a crowning of everything that we did in the past 2 years.
