      <description>The founding and active president of the Gulf Coast Cardiothoracic Surgery Institute in Tampa, Florida, Dr. Hartmuth Bittner holds a doctor of medicine (MD) from the University of Heidelberg Medical School in Heidelberg, Germany, and a doctor of philosophy (PhD) from the National Academy of Sports and Sports Sciences in Cologne, Germany. He received both of these degrees summa cum laude. Dr. Hartmuth Bittner also holds membership in several international clinical associations, and serves as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

Hartmuth Bittner, MD, PhD, FACS, employs minimally invasive modalities to treat damaged heart valves and address aortic aneurysms. He is also an established expert on both heart and lung transplant procedures.

In addition to providing direct patient care, Dr. Hartmuth Bittner has a history of educating medical students at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and the Leipzig Heart Institute in Leipzig, Germany. He currently teaches in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Ohio’s University of Cincinnati Medical Center.</description>
