The type of content people consume on the internet can also shape their personality and the way they interact with others through a user modeling their behavior to almost reflect the behaviors of other people they see on social media.

The 16 sociotype personality test is a great addition for research on how someone's personality influences the type of content they'll engage in on social media. After taking the test, based on their results, the research participants will be given 4 letter acronyms indicating what their personality type is. For example, someone who is an ISTJ is usually described to be a quiet and well organized, so they're like a straight arrow in which they rarely procrastinate and get what needs to be done on time. Whereas on the flip side, you have someone who is an ESFP and they're outgoing, cheerful, and love to be in the spotlight. People who have an E at the start of their sociotype are usually extroverted, but people have an I in their sociotype are usually introverted. Researchers can use these test results to predict and then experiment on what type of content people with the same or similar sociotype will engage in on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and etc.
