<title>I tried to add a note to the planning spreadsheet but it seemed to disappear ! Anyway I was thinking about themes and I believe we need to have some contemporary themes as well as traditional ones .. for example, encouraging environmental awareness, looking at endangered animals, investigating peace, harmony in nature , managing plastics, etc - in History we could do things like Kindertransport, Partitioning of India etc with older age groups. Art specific themes could take in open ended themes such as Structure and Form, Shape and Space Pattern and Colour etc etc</title>

<title>Interesting points on History content and &#39;contemporary themes&#39; but just wondering how this would fit within coverage of content within NC. Very little flexibility at KS2- potential for a unit on migration as post 1066 topic which could link to those areas you mention. or potential within local history but very dependent on the area.</title>

<title>Think we need to include popular themes covered in schools to ensure market appeal and uptake. Good to have some fresh/innovative/topical/contemporary themes as well, however. Must refer closely to NC for history and geography and have links with science, art, D&amp;T, literacy, numeracy, computing, etc. </title>

<title>I am still finding i can&#39;t get on to the google docs from Laura. So can&#39;t check progress or add. Idea for post-1066 topic journeys- remove childhood from original Voyagers units. Would need to make sure it is distinct from the explorers unit in KS1. Email me if you want any more thoughts on the original Voyagers History units. i did put some thoughts into the email i sent about 10 days ago.</title>

<title>Re themes - there is not as little flexibility as we might think - academies, free schools , independent schools do not have to follow the NC, and many high flying schools who do follow the NC still do more up to date and meaningful themes - even if as one off projects , which might suit this resource very well .. so room for both maybe ??? </title>
