Mott was a very talkative woman, she would hold up a campaign against slavery as an adult. As time passed Lucretia Mott was to be a teacher, but she found out that her salary would only be half of what a average male would gain. Mott gave both an opening and closing speech at the Seneca Falls Convention (the first convention for woman rights). Later on Lucretia Mott and her husband (James Mott) would help slaves escape.
- Patricia Pliego

As Texas grew independent from Mexico, Mexico declared that if an attempt of annexation (addition of territory) would occur it would lead to war. President James K. Polk of the United States although did try to buy part of the mexican territory but his offer was rejected. As his offer was rejected he sent troops to the border of Rio Grande, and Nueces River. As a response Mexico sent troops passing Rio Grande. Resulting in the death of 9 american soldiers, Polk later declared war on Mexico.
- Patricia Pliego

The Second Great Awakening was a Protestant religious revival movement during the early 19th century in the United States. The movement began around 1790, gained momentum by 1800 and, after 1820, membership rose rapidly among Baptist and Methodist congregations whose preachers led the movement. The American Revolution had largely been a secular affair. The Founding Fathers clearly demonstrated their opposition to the intermingling of politics and religion by establishing the separation of church and state in the first amendment to the Constitution.

In part because religion was separated from the control of political leaders, a series of religious REVIVALS swept the United States from the 1790s and into the 1830s that transformed the religious landscape of the country. Known today as the SECOND GREAT AWAKENING, this spiritual resurgence fundamentally altered the character of American religion.
-Ryan Riggs
http://www.ushistory.org/us/22c.asp
