First mentioned in Plato’s dialogues “Timaeus” and “Critias”; Plato describes Atlantis as "an island larger than Libya and Asia Minor put together, located in the Atlantic".
Archaeologists locate "evidence" such as a prehistoric city in coastal Spain or suspicious underwater rock formations near the Bahamas. I think this is an example of proof by verbosity. People want to believe that Atlantis exists so they hang on to what ever "evidence" people bring to light.

Facts about when and where stories of Atlantis first appeared can be read in Platos writings, but the facts have been twisted over the years. Today Atlantis is thought of as a peaceful utopia, but Plato told a different story. I think that Plato's ideas have been changed and exaggerated to suit the readers view; which can be an example of ancient wisdom.
