         <description><![CDATA[<p>(Objective 15, Planning conservation action for Ghana’s threatened tree species, 2023). One of the conservation actions aimed to engage in massive biodiversity education in the country that focuses on the youth.</p><p><br></p><p>We developed the above pedagogical model with some curriculum experts, plant scientists, and researchers in Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK). We tried its implementation in two elementary schools in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It is an ongoing project and currently, we have some small funds to expand the evaluation of the pedagogical model in five schools in three other regions in Ghana.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Output 1:</p><p>A total of sixty (60) people (24 females and 36 males) pulled from tree nursery managers from 8 communities (Owuratwum, Dompem, Sagyimaase, Potroase, Obuoho, Boma, Bunso and Apampatia), staff of A Rocha Ghana, CSIR-PGRRI and Forestry commission of Ghana and other stakeholders have been trained in best practice of seed collecting and propagation protocols of threatened tree species (Eg. <em>Cola boxian</em>a, <em>Omphalocarpum ahia</em>).</p><p><br></p><p>Output 2:</p><p>Training and sensitization activities on the target species have been conducted in 7 forest districts/municipalities in the Western North and Western regions of Ghana. The districts covered included Bibiani Anwiaso, Juaboso, Aowim, Amenfi West, Tarkwa Nsuaem, Subri, Jomoro and Takoradi. These forest districts/ municipalities are within the geographical range of the project target species. </p><p>Meetings were held with the districts/municipalities and regional forest managers and plantation managers to discuss conservation status of the targets species and the measures being taken to restore the species to sustainable population. Seed collecting and propagation methods were discussed and where the trees were available the districts were encouraged to assist the natural regeneration of the target species and include the species in their tree nursery and planting activities.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>
