· To demonstrate alignment with TEK 7.9A, which discusses locating the different region of Texas (Texas Education Agency, 2019), the Kagan strategy Rally Robin would work for discussing how to identify locations on a map (Clowes, 2011).

· To align with TEK 7.4B discussing Texas annexation into the United States (Texas Education Agency, 2019), students can create a pro and con list in order to properly analyze the benefits for both the U.S. and Texas for annexation. This can be done prior to the lesson or after, depending upon the preference of the teacher. Also, the teacher can choose the work of a few students to read off to the entire class and have them choose the best list (Raudys, 2018).

· Project based learning is a great learning experience when discussing TEK 7.15A “describe the structure and function of government at municipal, county, and state levels” (Texas Education Agency, 2019). In this situation, the students would do their own individual research while solving problems about a certain government, either Texas or another state, and then compare it to the federal level. Through this, the students will discover and work through their own learning (Day, 2017).

· Using a jigsaw groups to randomly divide and group students can also be effective to develop the skills of a TEK. For example, TEK 7.17C “express and defend a point of view on an issue of historical or contemporary interest in Texas” (Texas Education Agency, 2019), students could be divided up into groups and assigned a topic to defend (Day, 2017).

· A fishbowl activity where students are divided into two groups and given two different discussion topics is a great learning experience to demonstrate alignment and understanding with TEK 7.19A “explain how the diversity of Texas is reflected in a variety of cultural activities, celebrations, and performances” (Texas Education Agency, 2019). For this experience, the students will be given a discussion topic and provided time to research and prepare to discuss the topic in front of the class (Raudys, 2018).

· Individual activities still have their place in the classroom. A Prodigy Game (Raudys, 2018), is a great way to demonstrate alignment to any Texas History TEK. Students can complete and turn in different assignments. Even though it is a math program, hopefully different subjects will be added in the future.

· Formative assessments are quick and easy ways to assess the progress of students during a lesson or a lesson unit (Day, 2018). A good formative assessment for TEK 7.3A “trace the development of events that led to the Texas Revolution, including the Fredonian Rebellion, the Mier y Terán Report, the Law of April 6, 1830, the Turtle Bayou Resolutions, and the arrest of Stephen F. Austin” (Texas Education Agency, 2019), would be a quick quiz or a short essay demonstrating their understanding of the basic components of the Texas Revolution prior to the summative assessment.
