Claim: Many sport legends were punished in the 1960's because they were standing out and taking a public stand such as like Ali, Smith & Carlos they were punished/ criticized because they were standing out

Evidence: Kaepernick wasn't the first one to stand out there were many more before him like Ali, Smith, and Carlos they took a public stand that got them punished. But Kaepernick took a knee during the anthem in order to let the people/nation know what he is protesting for and why is he standing out but they are not doing anything wrong cause in the 1st Amendment protects the right of freedom of speech so that means that they can protest or speak about anything as long that it's truthful. They have dared to hold a mirror up to the rest of us, urging us to do better as a nation. It is our loss if we refuse to listen.

They have dared to hold a mirror up to the rest of us, urging us to do better as a nation.
