Art from the Prehistoric Era: Head of Akkadian Ruler

This life sized bronze sculpture originated from the Akkadian Empire around 2300-2200 BCE. It is thought to be a portrait of King Naram-Sin, the grandson of Sargon (founder of the empire). There is noticeable damage on the ocular region of this piece that can be attributed to damage caused as ancient thieves ripped out the precious material that once was there.

1. Integrate the use of interactive technology utilizing a screen that merges the sculptured head onto the guest that is standing in front of the application. Once the image is synced onto the image of the guest, the eyes of the head could light up in jeweled tones to imitate the treasure that once decorated this piece.
2. Strategically place lights around the display of this art piece to give the sculpture a glowing or halo effect that would relate the god-like status that rulers such as King Naram-Sin depicted were elevated to.
3. Include a barcode on the label of the art piece that is able to be scanned by a smart phone that would take the guest into an article on the history of King Naram-Sin and significance of his ancestors in the start of the Akkadian Empire.

Art of China: Terra Cotta Soldiers

This massive life size army of terracotta soldiers was uncovered in Xi'an, China and is believed to have been instated around 221-210 B.C. It was commissioned by Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi to guard his tomb.

1. Establish a large touch screen next to the display that has an interactive picture of all the soldiers. This will allow the guests to touch on a section of the work and have the screen zoom in close so that they are able to see all the individual and differing faces and postures of the soldiers defending the tomb.
2. Create an audio in the background that starts off with marching footsteps to simulate what an army of that size would actually sound like. Then have the audio move into describing the symbolism of this project and meaning it had in the religion of these people in the afterlife.
3. Place an interactive sand box type of structure near this display. The structure would be about waist height and people could dig for and dust off small imitations of the terracotta soldiers (they would be chained to the bottom of the box so no one would take them home). There would be various types of soldiers to find and each would correlate to a placard around the box describing their importance and job in battle.

Art of the Americas: Gold Llama

This small and delicate model of a llama was crafted in gold. This piece was from the Inca Empire, a massive state in the 15th century that stretched throughout the Andes mountains range in South America.

1. Present a cartoon-like animated video next to the display that depicts the symbolism of this gold llama. For example, it could show a sun dripping down gold (because the Incas revered gold as the sweat of the sun) to create the model and then list the importance of llamas in domestic labor and sacrifice.
2. Provide an infographic type of table that has a topographical map of the Inca Empire with its location highlighted. Then on the side of this location list some of the other architectural and agricultural feats, such as the irrigation systems, to give more context to this people group and where the model originated from.
3. This artifact has a religious significance in the Incan beliefs, so implementing a QR code that could lead to a website explaining the connection this piece has to the Inca mountain god and other gods in general that were worshiped.

This impressive feat of architecture is considered the world's largest mud-brick structure. It is located in Djenne, Mali and was built in 1907. This important trade center functioned not only as hub for business, but featured religious aspects (like the prayer wall) as well that were beneficial to the people.

1. Incorporate large visual elements of various angles of the mosque, almost like a panoramic photo, in an arched fashion to envelop the guest in the architecture. An informational column would be present on the end side of this picture presentation and detail the impressive structure and imperative role in trade and religion.
2. Play audio in the background of a bustling market and people speaking in the common tongue of that area. Incorporate the Islamic prayer call and silence that would follow at the appropriate times to stay true to the sounds that would be heard around the Great Mosque.
3. Provide a virtual reality experience for the guests in a safe area next to the display. They would put on the VR headset and enter into the market place surrounding the mosque and then be able to walk up to the building and even into the courtyard. This would allow a guest to be immersed in the magnitude of the structure.
