🎨 Assignment 1: My Movement Moodboard

Objective:
Express a personal theme through visual inspiration and connect it to movement ideas.

Instructions:

Choose a theme that resonates with you (examples: Growth, Strength, Resilience, Joy, Freedom, Healing).
Create a digital "moodboard" using Padlet. Add:
- At least 6 items (images, song lyrics, short videos, quotes, poems, etc.) that reflect your theme
- A short paragraph (5–8 sentences) explaining why you chose this theme and how your visuals connect to dance and movement
After posting, leave a meaningful comment on at least two of your classmates' moodboards using dance vocabulary (ex: flow, dynamics, shape, level, tempo).

Be creative, bold, and thoughtful. This is your artistic voice in visual form.

📚 Assignment 2: Dance Around the World - Research Project

Objective:
Explore the cultural significance of global dance traditions and connect movement to history, storytelling, and community.

Instructions:

Choose a dance style from a culture or country different from your own (e.g., Hula, Bharatanatyam, African dance, Ballet, Irish Step, Capoeira, etc.).
Research the dance’s history, cultural significance, and any traditional music or costume that goes with it.
Create a Padlet post that includes:
- 3–5 facts about the dance and its origins
- 1 image or video representing the style
- A short written paragraph (4–6 sentences) explaining what you learned and what you found most interesting
(Optional Bonus): Try learning one basic step or gesture from that style and upload a short video clip of yourself doing it!

Your post should be respectful, informative, and show curiosity about the world.

🤝 Assignment 3: Group Choreography "Voices in Motion"

Objective:
Collaborate with your group to create an original dance that speaks to a meaningful theme or social issue.

Instructions:

In a group of 3–4, choose a theme (examples: Unity, Mental Health, Equality, Change, Hope, Strength in Diversity).
Use this Padlet to:
- Share inspiration: videos, music, articles, quotes
- Post rehearsal ideas and movement tests
Collaboratively choreograph a 45–60 second dance piece based on your theme.
Record your performance and post the video to Padlet.
Include a group artist statement (5–7 sentences) explaining your creative process and intent.
Comment on at least one other group’s performance using appropriate dance language and offering thoughtful feedback.
