There is one main conflict in my story. The conflict is that the main character, Crow, doesn't have a mom or dad and when she was just born she was sent off at sea. Osh found her on a boat as she was just born and has been her parent figure ever since. The conflict in the story is that Crow is trying to find out where she came from and who her parents are. This conflict affects the story because she is trying to find clues of where she came from. This conflict also affects her because in Crows mind she feels confused and also angry and sad because people think she came from an island with leprosy and will never touch her. Because of this Crow feels unwanted and alone.

I just started this book and so far the main character, Crow, was born and her parents put her on a boat in the sea when she was just born because they didn't want her. Soon Osh who is Crow’s guardian, found her on the boat and Crow has been with him ever since. Crow is wondering how she got her name and where she came from. This scene answers my annotation question because from this scene I can infer that Crow is starting the journey to find everything about her. For example, I think that Crow will go there and start trying to put all the clues and pieces together of her whole life.

I just started but so far in this book it has been good because it leaves me wondering what will happen and makes me want to read more.

In this book Crow is telling the story. I think that she makes the story sound believable and real because she has the same emotions as any normal person would have. For example, she would sound confused, sad, happy, and have many different emotions at different times.

During this scene Crow is very invested is finding out where she cam from and why her parents left her. The author used the phrase fancy chandelier so we can learn how Esperanza's great-grandfather views her great-grandmother. We learn that he loved her and really wanted to marry her. He values her and sees her as a delicate, elegant, desirable woman.
