I understand art by seeing it as a process over a product. Focussing on the step-by-step process with your creativity creates the end product. If children are taught to use process vs product as a tool for their creativity, they will learn step-by-step strategies for their art while also learning higher thinking skills. "Although both are appropriate and engage children in skill development, product art is good for following steps. It does not help children develop their individual creativity. On the other hand, process art is highly creative and is vital to allow children to tap into their higher thinking skills."

In my opinion, creativity is the process of someone being able to express themselves through many different ways.

One of my favorite games as a child that contributes to children's growth in all areas would be tag. Physically, you run, weave, dodge, skip, walk, etc throughout the game. It's a great source of cardio. The children are gaining cognitive growth while they are learning what it means to win and lose. I would say that also helps with their emotional growth. They experience the highs and lows of losing and what it means to be a good teammate. In regards to social growth, the game of tag can demonstrate what it means to play with others positively and safely. Its a fun game for almost all ages!

I believe that technology hinders most creativity inside the classroom. When I was in elementary school, we had the projectors and the computer lab, and that was it. We didn't base our learning on technology like most classrooms are today. Textbooks and paper have been replaced with instant definitions given by Google. Reading the pages out loud to your class or peers has been changed to listening to the audio of someone else reading the book to them. Technology has negatively impacted the classroom.

5. Suppose a bad fairy has waved her wand and ruled that you can select only three types of creative activities to use for a whole year in your preschool. Which three would you select and why?

I would choose finger painting as my first choice. I choose finger painting because it is good for their hand-eye coordination, gaining strength in their hand muscles, gains creativity, etc.
My second choice would be dramatic play. Dramatic play is my personal favorite for pre-schoolers because it targets social, emotional, and language development with children
lastly, I would choose music/dance for the children. Music and dance are good for children's motor skills, confidence, sense of self, etc.

6. Describe three ways that the play environment can be enhanced to include and build understanding of children with disabilities.

Plan with the Parents. Getting together with the parents of the students and discussing certain needs and goals together is key. Setting classroom and at-home goals and working together as a team can be of benefit to the student.
Be a model of appropriate behaviors. Sometimes, children with special needs will need to be shown how to be a play partner. Doing activities and playing with the student one on one can help build better student-teacher relationships. Later, having other students join in the play can help the student with special needs be more comfortable and willing to play.
Teach typically developed children how to play and speak to students with special needs. For example, teaching them to softly tap the shoulder of the hearing impaired student and talk to them directly so they can hear and understand.

7. What is your favorite children’s story, and how would you help children experience this story through a variety of different creative activities? (Be specific.)**

My favorite book as a child was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. By Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault. This book teaches the alphabet through fun rhymes and illustrations. You could help children experience this book in many ways including dramatic play, singing (my favorite), and used in many different games. Singing would be my first choice because it has been proven that making things into songs helps you remember more easily. You could turn the book's entirety into a song and sing it with the class. With time they will have found a fun way to know their letters.

Nature is the blueprint of art and creativity. Nature is full of unique designs, shapes, colors, and sounds that have reflected art in all for,s and generations. With each snowflake being a different shape like our fingerprints, and every web being woven into intricate designs by the spider. Humans have based their art on nature since te beginning.

9. What community/school “helpers” would you invite to your room to aid children’s understanding of their community? What would you have these visitors talk about, bring with them to class, and do with the children? How would this impact students' creativity?

If I had my own classroom and students, I would choose local artists from the community. Have them bring in tools they use for their art, their inspirations for their art, etc. Local artists are always in it for the love of art and their community rather than the money or payout. In Cape, many stores and shops sell local art. Finding those artists and bringing them into the room will teach the children the love of art, community, and what it means to create art and be creative.

10. Throughout this semester we have learned that creative thought and expression is not just important during childhood. Rather, having a creative mindset is essential throughout the lifespan. With this in mind, how do you intend on continuing to nurture your own creativity?

I plan on nurturing my creativity by doing the things that I love. I have a passion for writing. Through writing, I achieve satisfaction, curiosity, raw emotion, and emotional growth. Also, getting out of my comfort zone. When I put the anxiety to the side, I have noticed it's easier to achieve my goals and be myself. When I am my most authentic self, I am my most creative.
