Louie- Athlete 1= Long Distance Runner who has severe back problems causing implications with line of Posture.

Therefore, with my client he was running around 20 miles per week as he was training for his second marathon. As a result, this means that he was running at a moderate pace intensity in order to stay within his aerobic training zone.

However, due to recent events with various back spasm's ( and falling over on his back during football causing a large hematoma on his lower back) down to the impact of running 20 miles a week on a hard surface. This caused pressure on his back muscles and not stretching before and after has caused his line of posture to be negatively affected.

Moreover, due to his line of posture being affected as a result of the back problems, this has led to his leg muscles being under more pressure when he went running. Consequently, this then led to him receiving a bad knee strain down to not only his back problems and posture but also down to his long periods of inactivity ( overweight in my opinion) because he couldn't bare the pain of running.

In conclusion, the massage techniques that I will use to aid my client to get back to running even though I will have referred him to several specialists. I will make conduct a deep massage ( Petrissage and other methods) each week on his back in order to slowly relieve his back muscles of any tension so that he can get back to slowly return to his running.

Nick- Athlete 1- My client has played Netball and dislocated her knee during a game.
Dynamic- she played Wing defence which meant she was constantly moving, she was walking 3 times a week on road walking which was a flat surface which could of affected the injury because of the uneven road.
Intensity- moderate/ high intensity but due to the injury she has been advised to not play netball again because it affected her knee joint severely.

Other injuries- my client suffered from a slight tear in the hamstrings and quadriceps from the knee dislocation which is why my client was advised to not return to the sport because of how serious the injury was.

Massage- a maintenance massage would benefit my client because it will help relieve any pain in the legs, especially in her torn muscles, this will increase blood flow and will help with the muscle strengthening. the technique that will be used is petrissage as my technique to massage my client as it mobilises groups of muscles and reduces tension in muscle fascia. It also increases blood circulation and with my clients upper legs in pain this will reduce the tension in her legs and with her previous injury.
