Not Volunteering, Training. (Blog Post #1)

So, I was unable to do the volunteering in the clinics that I had called, so, instead, I will be training my puppy, Her name is Lattie. She is a hyperactive one year old dachshund, puppy. Lattie is a very hyperactive puppy and has to be kept on a lead outside, and is not able to stay out in the home while someone is not home. She will often chew things up. As I have started to train her, she has picked up on sit, and "Get it" Which I am teacher her so that I do not have to teach her the command "Stay." My pup is a sweet puppy, but, she does not listen very well. Even with treats.

As I started to Train (Blog Post #2)

As I started to train Latte, I started to notice that it was a lot harder than anticipated, she is only around a year old so she still has a lot of puppy energy. Which makes it harder for her to work with. Her constant need to be running around and trying to bite everything makes it hard for her to be calm enough to train.
But it is hard for me to wear her out, because then she doesn't want to do anything, I wonder if taking her into my room will help.

I figured out that my puppy learns slowly (Blog Post #3)

I have recently started to try and teach her the command "lay" it seems a bit harder then it is portrayed by many movies and other means of media. Really it reminds me of the movie Marley and Me which makes me chuckle.
When I started to take Latte into my room for training, she started to associate my room, with treats and training. Making it harder for the skills learned in the room to be transferred to other places. So, I started to use a "clicker" app. When she does something right, I click and she gets a treat. It is a type of conditioning. I tried that for a while, but it did not seem to effect her training. So I tried to show her enrichment after doing a series of commands correctly, she reacted positively to it. Though I want to continue to do both of them. Hoping that it will help her possibly catch on quicker.
