After around 9 years the North and South were going to get together but were conflicted on the type of government that was going to be kept. The north wanted to spread the communist government while the south wanted a republic government. This was the begging of the war. 10 years after the war started in 1965 the US joined the war to help stop and prevent the spread of Communism. Around the same time the Soviets were helping aid the North. This is connected to the current day because the US and the Soviets proved what was capable of reaching the moon and launching satellites into space through the Nuclear weapons that were made.
