As an ICT4E direction in the Minstry Of Education, we need to know what kind of pedagogical use tablets can bring inside classrooms, what kind of approach to adopt, which scenario for implementig Tablets... For now, we are not talking budget, we are rather focusing on real Return On Investement, on the pedagogical side.
So, talking to parents, I would say :
Tablets are other ICT tools that exists already outside schools. The challenge will be, in my opinion, focusing on the Tablet as a learning tool, instead of a regular everyday leisure tool! There will be some work to do (at teachers level) to define this new tool "image" inside classroom.

I keep hearing people talking about content creation but when it is time to make things concrete, there is hesitation..!

We need then to explain crearly what "Content Creation" is.

I think that everybody now, due to proliferation of personal devices (especially smartphones and Tablets), is a content creator. A simple status published on a social network is actually a piece of content. We have to asist our pupils to be also good content creators inside classrooms. How?

We need a learning scenario! And according to my actual context (in my country), we need courageous scenarios (Back to convincing teachers and parents!!!)

For me, an interesting pedagogical scenario would definitely be that one which help pupils discover their real own potential, in terms of skills.
As I told before, I am not teaching now.

Groups are indeed the good opportunity to teach to our pupils collaborative skills. I agree with the idea stating that a teacher would better start groups from pairs.

To compose groups, I think that teacher can (waiting to define pupils profiles and learning styles) compose random pairs (using a name picker for example, it's always funny to do that with pupils inside classroom!).

The second video (with kids) is very important in terms of pupils feedback :

- we can work together and decide what to do ;

- we can make mindmaps ;

- we can show ideas to others ;

- we can discuss in group ;

... and we can plan to work everywhere in schools : tablets are very mobile!

Ok...

As we can see on the video, groups of 4 students are moving around with on tablet each time. This king of nomadism made by a kind of data quest through city, outside school is very efective, I guess.

Putting pupils right inside their real environment and linkind learning outcomes with their real concerns is the good way to keep them focused. I would do the same : pupils don't need to consider school as a standalone space different from its real and actual environment.

Thanks for this video.

I will be viewing it after.

Back to assessment and collaboration, I thing peer assessment is the good approach to adopt since the main concern is collaborating. I prefer formative tasks starting from small groups projects (intermediate output) to collective project for all students (final class output). I used to have this kind of assessment when I was learning for my Master degree on a collaborative platform : we were small groups (3 or 4 people) and worked on some projects and at the end the whole Master group worked on one final project : that was very interesting.

However, people at the MoE are very aware of innovation and shifting to new models. Driving change is not to easy and it will need time to come with ne approaches.
Actually, no flipped classroom are here yet! But, the added value is very obvious.
Quoting the second video :
... Instead of sitting and listening, students can spend classtime applying knowledge in practical way.

Well, here is my journey.

I started as a French Foreign Language teacher in a middle school in Morocco, in 1995. I was 19 years old and very brand new to a great profession! I teached in rural areas where there was no GSM network, no electricity... (in fact, a lot of things were not there...but I was! hhhh)

At 2002, I stopped my teacher career and shifted to another career : vocational conselling for students. I worked for 2 years providing information to students about their future options. That was a first occasion for me to set up a website for students (I stopped update on 2006 :-( ...). At 2003, I had my French Litterature Licence degree from university.

At the end of 2006, I joined the ministry of education main offices in the capital, exactly as a member of Direction du programme GENIE (National ICT for education strategy). I was in charge of many areas, from equipment to digital content and teachers training. Meanwhile, I had my Master Degree from Strasbourg's University in France. That was a great exciting e-learning experience!

By december 2010, I stopped working for MoE (I was on a leave of absence, for 3 years, cause I needed to change and to learn new things). I was enrolled in september 2011 by SMART Technologies (Canada) as an Education Consultant in Morocco and Francophone Africa. That was a really valuable experience where I learned a lot, I met great people and travelled in some european and african countries.

From January 2014, I was back to my former position in MoE, where I am working actually on many new experimentations in education field (IWB, Serious Gaming and of course... Tablets!)

I decided to participate in tihs course to learn about Use Of Tablets in Classroom, as I am in charge of a pilot project here, in Morocco!

To say the truth : I learned a lot from this course and I will use all of this knowledge in my work!

Cheers from Morocco!
