He broke many records, and tied one. he attended the Olympics in Berlin and was very nervous but won. He was the son of a share cropper and was always ill as a child. he attended Ohio State and was a tremendous athlete there as well. He was involved in the Civil right movement because he was the first black man to do many things in athletics. He was apart of the first 6 African American men to run in the Olympics. In all they won 11 gold medals, but Owens was defiantly the most successful.
