Cândido Portinari was a brazilian artist. Portinari painted nearly five thousand works.

The picture painted in 1934 by Portinari became one of his most famous works. In it, we have a black worker-typical of the twentieth century coffe farms, with a hoe in his hands and plantations in the background. In the painting, the model appears in the arms and legs larger than the rest of the body, which shows appoaching Portinari with expressionism.

The painting shows the slovery in brazilian in that moment.
