Industrialism was a booming success for our country. New and established citizens were working, new technologies made production more efficient and the price of goods dropped. Life was more convenient for most. This era brought prosperity but it also plagued our society with big problems. The income gap was growing immensely, poor treatment of workers, poor urban living conditions, and civil rights are just a few of the problems that arose from industrialization. With all of these problems in our society, the idea of progressive politics was born. The goal of progressives was to fix these problems with political and social reform.
