This law essentially gave absolute power to the Second Triumvirate of Octavian, which included Augustus Caesar, Mark Antony (the man who assassinated Julius Caesar), and Marcus Aemilius Lepidus. Because of the law, they were able to make and remove laws and appoint people to government postions. The power given to the three men over the Roman Republic signified its ending by the fact that the people lost any control over the government.
