Alcohol can increase the risk of drowning because it impairs judgment and visibility. Alcohol distorts the perception of risk and one's abilities. It also increases risk-taking and inappropriate behaviour, which harms yourself and others. Intoxication can also lead to hypothermia. Where blood vessels widen and increase blood flow to the skin, creating a false sense of warmth and delaying the recognition of cold. Other serious risks include increased vulnerability to dangerous water conditions like rips or high waves, and the possibility of alcohol poisoning, which can result in seizures, slow breathing, or loss of consciousness.

With limited lifeguards, the likelihood of being saved when in danger is very low.

I chose motorbikes as my brother has recently bought a motorbike, and many of my family members have owned motorbikes. So I'm personally interested in the safety of it, and know how my brother can be safe on the roads.

3 most important safety rules of Motorbikes:

Always wear a helmet and proper protective gear

Be visible to other motorists and drivers

Expect the unexpected

Two Strategies to Stay Safe (imaginary advice from an adult):

Always wear protective gear

"Even if you’re just going for a short ride, I always wear full protective gear, helmet, gloves, padded jacket, long pants, and proper boots. A helmet alone can reduce the risk of a head injury by over 40%. It’s not just about surviving an accident, but also avoiding serious injuries altogether. There were a couple of times I rode the bike at high speeds, and my jacket and gloves saved me from some nasty accidents."

- Future adult self

Always be visible to other drivers

"One of the main dangers when riding a motorbike is that drivers often don’t see you. Being visible and seen is up to you. I try to wear bright or reflective clothing, especially at night or in bad weather. I also keep my headlights on at all times and even during the day. When I’m changing lanes or passing cars, I make sure I’m not riding in their blind spots. If a driver can’t see you, they can’t avoid you, so staying visible is detrimental for safety.”

- Future adult self

Is the above statement true?

I believe this statement above is true. Any gender benefits greatly when surrounded by people who support equality and show respect. A positive environment enhances one's well-being by feeling safe, respected and valued. There would be less discrimination and stereotypes, and people would be allowed to express themselves freely.

List some of the benefits for men

When respect is shared equally, men experience stronger, more supportive relationships. There is less pressure for men to always be "strong" or unemotional. With fewer stereotypes, men feel more comfortable seeking help or talking about their feelings. When everyone is treated fairly, communities function better, creating more opportunities for men as well.

List some of the benefits for women

Women are more likely to be treated equally in the workforce and in education.

How does understanding the diversity of sexual attraction help us create a more inclusive environment?

Understanding that people experience attraction in different ways helps us create spaces where everyone feels accepted and valued. When we recognise that sexual attraction isn’t the same for everyone, we reduce stereotypes, challenge prejudice, and allow people to express who they are without fear of judgement. This leads to a safer, more supportive environment where people can be themselves.

Why is it important to respect and acknowledge different sexual attractions?

Respecting and acknowledging diverse sexual attractions improves people’s mental health and well-being. When someone feels seen and accepted, their self-esteem grows, and it reduces anxiety, depression, or isolation. Recognising different sexual attractions also reduces discrimination, bullying and assumptions, creating a more positive and welcoming community for everyone.

What are some challenges people might face when expressing their sexual attraction, and how can we help overcome these challenges?

When expressing sexual attraction, people face the fear of judgment, rejection, or discrimination from peers, family, or society. Some may feel pressured by cultural or religious expectations, which can make it difficult to express who they are openly. To help overcome these challenges, we can create supportive environments by listening without judgment, using inclusive language, and standing up against discriminatory behaviour.
