         <description><![CDATA[<div>This group has been put in place for middle school girls and boys, ages eleven and twelve, who struggle with social skills and peer relationships.<br><br>Through a needs assessment, it was determined that incoming 6th graders struggled the most with social skills which prompted counselors to create this group. </div>]]></description>

Counselor will also gather referral data from 6th grader's previous year as a 5th grader. The counselor will also look at those students who have a 504 plan. The counselor will meet with a few boys and girls who would benefit from this group. This small screening would discuss their thoughts on friendship </div>]]></description>

         <title>Group Dynamics </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> The populations of this group is 6 grade girls and boy who struggle with social skills. Because of this, the dynamics of this group are unique. <br><br>Stage 1 will focus on getting to know each other. Seeing how this a social skills group, the icebreaker would not be too tense. Instead, the icebreaker would be light so that the participants feel comfortable and promote trust amongst each other. <br>Stage 2 will involve engaging activities and discussion that building their social skills. Students are encouraged to express other interest that can help others with their social skills.<br>Stage 3 conclude with a team building activity where each student shares out loud what they learned and how it will be applied to their everyday life. The group session will come to an end with each participant receiving a completion certificate. A follow up plan will be put in place to speak with the 6 graders individually and as a group. A follow up with the 6 grade teachers as well to determine if the session was successful or not.<br><br></div>]]></description>
