Society and the environment are entirely dependent on plants. This photo demonstrates this by showing the humans gathering plants as a food source. The plants are also used to build shelters for humans, while plants already act as a form of shelter for animals.

I thought that this video demonstrated the basics of photosynthesis fairly well. While it is very basic, the video shows how a plant needs water, carbon dioxide, and sunlight to go through photosynthesis. The video also shoes how, after photosynthesis has occurred, oxygen has been produced. On a side note, the animation is stellar. I mean, look at the sun's face.

I believe that the rainforest biome is in the most danger. Humans tend to fail at leaving beautiful things alone, whether we choose to possess it, or possess something made from it. Deforestation is the destruction of forests so that the land may be used for other means. There is an estimated that 17% of the world's rainforests have been lost due to deforestation.

http://www.worldwildlife.org/threats/deforestation

By relying less on the hunter-gatherer lifestyle, early farmers were able to settle down and grow as a people. Communities formed, and, as populations increased, the amount of agricultural activity increased. The cycle continues today; The more people there are, the more food is required to be produced.

I feel like tractors are a pretty good representation of the third agricultural revolution. With the invention of tractors, farmers were now able to mass produce their crops. Planting and harvesting times shortened dramatically, allowing for more food to be produced, which means more people were able to be fed. Without this kind of technological advancement, I doubt the world would be able to sustain the population it has today.

I honestly believe that caffeine is one of the most popular, influential, and legally addictive plant based chemicals out there. So very few people can get through the day without having their caffeine fix. It is absolutely insane. Not only can some people not function without it, many people get hooked on it simply because of the coffee trend!

If agricultural practices continued as they are presently, without any changes whatsoever, I am positive that the world would end up looking a lot like this. With an ever growing world population, the need for food will increase at the same rate. While society is doing alright as it is with our current agricultural ways, it's not something would be able to sustain greater populations. Basically, without changing and developing new agricultural practices, the human race would inevitably exhaust all resources, leaving behind a shell of a planet in the wake of their own extinction.
