The teddy bear was made with her friends on the day everyone left for uni, so now it sits on her desk, and it makes her think of all the good memories she had with her school friends. Similarly, I brought my turtle lucky charm from home, which was given to me my best friend from elementary school. The conversation we've had made me wonder about how other students may miss their friends from back home and how we's difficult to make friends here sometimes because of a cultural difference.

  • What do you both notice about the object ?

  • What do you wonder about it ?

  • What connections does the person interviewed make to this object?

After sharing their objects, students will write a short summary on the highlights of their conversation and the story of the objects to see if there are any similarities to theirs.

You will then reply to other similar reflections using the SNIP, PROBE, APPRECIATE tool kit :

  • SNIP : Cut and paste a phrase or sentence from the original post into your comment. Ask a question about it or say what you find interesting or important about what is being said.

  • PROBE : Probe for more details. Ask questions that will help give you a better sense of another person’s perspective.

  • APPRECIATE : Share what you like, appreciate, or value in the post you’ve read. Be specific.
