Welcome new colleagues! I have been teaching in the biology department here at Stan for 13 years, and love this work! I am a freshwater ecologist, especially aquatic insects in temporary streams (ask me about hellgrammites!), but more and more I have been switching my scholarly focus to critical STEM education. Outside of teaching, I enjoy hiking, running, birding, gardening, and fancy beverages of all kinds. I grew up in a musical household (my mom is a piano teacher) and I love music; some favorite artists include Sleater-Kinney, Kendrick Lamar, PJ Harvey, Janelle Monae, Mitski, The Breeders...

Welcome to CSU Stanislaus! It is my pleasure to serve as a faculty member and director of the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership. This is my fourth year as a faculty member, but my association with Stan State goes back to 1982 when I began my higher education journey. A first-generation student, I completed a BA in English and the teacher credential program and then spent 30 years as a K12 teacher and administrator before coming home to Stan State as faculty. It is also my pleasure to serve as a faculty advisor for the Tri-Alpha Honor Society for First Generation Students. If you are a first-gen, be sure to let me know; we would love to welcome you into the organization!

Taking time for self-care and to recharge our energy is so important! I do this through long walks every day, time with my husband, adult children and their amazing life partners, and our dogs (3 Australian shepherds and a toy poodle). I also recharge through creativity. I engage in some form of handwork every day -- including knitting, crochet, embroidery, quilting, and stained glass. I think positive thoughts and weave good energy into my creations and very much enjoy making objects filled with love for family.

Hi everyone! I'm a new Assistant Professor of Educational Technology in the Advanced Studies in Education department. My entire PhD at UCLA I was hoping to become faculty at a CSU and I am very excited to have ended up at Stanislaus!

My PhD is in Education with focus on Urban Schooling and Learning Sciences and my MA is in Race and Ethnic Studies in Education. I was a high school history and government teacher in Washington, D.C. prior to graduate school -- I'm always happy to nerd out on history or politics. My research focuses on how teachers learn to teach with technology and how youth engage in civic practices in an increasingly digital world.

I spent the last year doing a postdoc at Southern Methodist University in Dallas which means my 4 year old son, husband, and I have moved CA to TX and back to CA within the past 12 months. We are very happy to be back on the west coast and look forward to becoming at part of the campus community.

Outside of teaching I can usually be found either planning or going on adventures with my son, or doing one of the many crafts I enjoy (needlepoint, cross stitch, knitting, crochet, and sewing). I also enjoy reformer pilates, a feminist romance novel, and watching 90s movies on Netflix.

Hi everyone! My name is Danny Rosas and I'm a new part time lecturer that will be teaching 3010 Operations Management this Fall Semester. After doing 7 years in the Air Force and obtaining my Associates degree in Applied Science. I got out and went to school at San Diego State where I got my Bachelors degree in Public Administration. A few years later, I graduated from Stan State with my MBA, which now makes me an Aztec Warrior. For the past 6 years, I have been working in the private sector as an Operations Manager. This will be my first time teaching in a classroom so I’m pretty excited for this. Most of my teaching experience has been mentoring supervisors over the course of my career in the Air Force and at the various companies I’ve worked at. In whatever free time I’m able to find, I love traveling with my family. Before this semester starts, my family and I will be going to San Diego for my Son’s 3rd birthday. I’m a definite thrill seeker and plan on getting my son on a long board with me while we are down there. I look forward to meeting everyone and having a fun filled semester!

Hello All! My name is Andrew Lazar, I am a new adjunct lecturer in the Mathematics Department. Educationally, I think of myself as a product of the Central Valley. I started my college journey at Modesto Junior College and after 2 years I transferred to CSU Stanislaus. In 2019, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from CSU Stanislaus. In 2021, I earned my Master of Science in Applied Mathematics from UC Merced under the advising of Dr. Roummel Marcia.

Certainly, I was inspired by the many fantastic math professors at all of the institutions I have attended to pursue this career path. My passion is to teach, support, and mentor students in the collegiate environment. I feel strongly that creating inclusive, welcoming, and safe environments in the STEM classroom (and all classrooms for that matter) greatly increase student success and retention.

I am so excited to be back teaching at my alma mater! I have the unique experience this semester to be teaching courses at all of my alma maters as I will be teaching classes at MJC and UC Merced as well.

Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, walking, working out (or trying to enjoy working out), Netflix, and being with my family! I hope to get to know you all more!

Hello everyone! I am joining the Master of Social Work Program as an assistant professor. My research interest is in health disparities among immigrant and refugee communities. I am focusing on Southeast Asian because I am Hmong (from Laos). Several years ago, I went to Laos and took this picture. It was the trip of a life time and it's how I like to de-stress. Unfortunately, I don't get to travel to far away places with beautiful waterfalls as much as I like to. For my health - both physical and mental, I like a good walk. Lately, it's been an attempt at golf but the weather has not cooperated (too hot!). I have to be honest, I still feel the imposter syndrome even after almost four years completing the PhD. Mentors, advise welcome!
