I'm glad that so many people came today to demonstrate with us against racism and police violence . We're all here for a reason, because we are concerned about our human rights. And the fact that we are so many shows how necessary this protest is. It is said that every human being is equal and has the same rights and freedoms. But the violence against black people proves the opposite. Humanity has existed for thousands of years, more than a hundred and fifty years ago, slavery was abolished and the part of our society that had been disadvantaged and humiliated for centuries was given rights. One might think that the equality, promised in the constitution, would really apply today, in the twenty-first century. But prejudice, hatred and fear still prevail today. Not only in american society, but also in the police. The police, which stands for protection and order, which is supposed to protect us citizens, to uphold the law, and which represents our entire institution. Only recently was a boy shot dead. He was seventeen years old. He was unarmed and yet the policeman who stopped him shot. Why? Out of fear of the skin color, the appearance? A person was murdered, a person who was innocent. And the murderer is protected by our state. The whole guilt for these murders is charged to the victims by the truly guilty. The dead victim is falsely accused of selling drugs or possessing unauthorized weapons, and so the crime is no longer being prosecuted by the police. What's equality about that?But it is important that we fight back, raise our voices, because this is the only way we can act against it in a peaceful way. I ask you all to continue to stand for your opinion and to set standards. Because even this protest today can contribute to an improvement.
