Authenticity can drive how I would be able to inspire and influence others. To be able to inspire others, I would try to reveal a bit about myself. Revealing my true self, I would be able to transfer humility, credibility, and trust to those around me. People follow authentic leaders not because they are good at manipulation or even because of their power or position but through their compelling influence. I would want to demonstrate some vulnerability so people can not only feel inspired but are able to relate to me. I was at lengths inspired by one of my managers who held an open-door policy, not just for the name of it, but maintained the true meaning. I would want to practice the same but in my own unique way, which would encourage open communication and feedback. Su and Wilkins (n.d.) mentioned being someone that others can rely on for their honesty and thinking and also at the same time, be open with them to inculcate a human bond.

As I look back on time, I recognize that my current interest in leadership has evolved from stressful situations that I have confronted and attempted to overcome. This journey chronicles the development of my thinking on leadership employing the two goals I have set for myself and the action plan I have carved for each of one of them.

The ability to be able to handle conflicts to induce a productive environment is a skill that I would want to develop in my leadership journey. We all live in the times, where people are opinionated, and practice free speech and conflict is bound to happen. If I would be able to inculcate and hone this skill it would become easy to reach the common goal that has been set for the organization.

It's often said a leadership should lead by influence rather than by authority, This is where relationship-building becomes critical. I would like to develop this skill by focusing on building and sustaining relationships with my team by this i would send a clear message that my focus is not simply on myself, but on how i can help my team to succeed and thrive under my leadership. People are drawn to work under some leaders, not because of the successes those leaders have achieved, but because of their focus on those around them. This focus consists of understanding their employees in terms of what matters to them, what inspires them and how they can meet the common organizational goals. The MGM program has given me a great opportunity to connect with people aross the globe, work in team environment. And during my journey of this MGM program what i most learned was how to manage conflict and make sure it's done in the most amicable manner. I would definitely like to focus on this goal in my upcoming team assignments by building relationships, valuing others opinon and working to achieve the common goal.

Respecting difference is easy said that done. I have personally faced this challenge in my team assignments. I have always been a opinonated person or rather upfront in my approach. These two attributes are well respected but also can make situations difficult if not practiced well. I learnt that rather to impose my influence, respect the unique differences in people and learn to see things from differing points of view so i can better understand how to avoid conflict in the future. It's very important to understand that conflict hardly can be categorized in black and white. In fact, there are more grey areas because of workplace diversity and generation gap between our peers. Respecting differences in people can help me better understand how to manage conflict. Everyone has a unique quality which can help achieve common goals and if one doesn't have an ear or an eye for it, they not only loose on the ubandant talent but also loose the chance of learning knowledge from a pool of diverse people diversified by not only culture but also their personality.

In order to be, never try to seem (Camus, n.d.). Which means we must live as authentically as possible. We should not allow the opinions of others to dictate our decisions. One should be able to own their unique leadership style and determine it's character. I want to be able to believe in myself and able to embody the belief in my leadership style. The term authenticity has often been overused in the business world but not understood to its true meaning. Based on my understanding, authenticity means being genuine and not imitating others for some ornamental outcomes. By being authentic, I would be able to embody my true self in the leadership role. Inculcating this attribute would help me to lead others by having a sense of self-awareness, identity, and honesty. Authenticity would help me cultivate my strengths, help me recognize my weaknesses, and take full accountability of my actions. Moreover, from my personal experience of having to work with different leaders, I would give utmost importance to this goal as I want to lead by setting an example and inspiring others and not by intimidating them.

Self awareness is the foundation to help me achieve my goal of authenticity. By dwelling into self reflection, I would be able to understand myself as a person and how others see me. Self awareness is a lifelong journey of learning from experiences and being able to share these along the way. By reflecting to my success, defeat, the good times, the difficult ones and my journey of accomplishments and setbacks I would be able to own my values by knowing who I am, what I believe in, what’s the right thing to do. As the identification of the right path, the right decision would be navigating when uncertainty would prevail. Hence asking myself if my leadership style reflect the person, I would hold the key in practising this commitment (Kaplan, p10, para 3).
