Jurong west was mostly made up of swamps with low hills covered by a thick jungle. In the 1960s  Jurong West was developed into an industrial estate which was supported by low cost housing. Amenities such as government dispensaries, a private hospital. hawker centres and banks were built in the 1970s  to assist the economical development of Singapore 
RESIDENTS: The residents are very  friendly and considerate. They usually greet me in the morning sometimes when i get out of my house to go to school and again when i meet them when i reach home. 
ANALYSIS: The residents seem to be happy with their neighbourhood. They have a lot of memories in this place that mean a lot to them. They also think that the things built around the neighbourhood without us asking and most of them a lot of convenience . She says that when she is at the library, she is able to concentrate on her study and revision easily because it is silent. There is no distractions and inconveniences there she says. She can also hang out at the library with her friends to relax if she is facing any stress. 
A 51-60 year old lady told us that she really enjoys going to the coffee shop because when she ever feels lonely or bored she can just go down to the coffee shop and have a chat with her friends and they can also play games such as majong together there.

Residents no longer need to travel far to buy daily necessities and no difficulty travelling from one place to another. Gardens, parks and exercise corners are also built for residents to relax and keep fit.  The sports complex nearby also gives more options for exercising. A sense of belonging grows as time passes and residents familiarize themselves with the place. Also, the bonds between neighbours is undoubtedly strengthened and that is definitely something very precious and irreplaceable. As the place develops , more playgrounds will built for children to gather, exercise corners where elderly congregate to exercise with their friends.
