As you embark on this new chapter, I want you to know how incredibly proud I am of each and every one of you. Despite the challenges ahead, you are giving your best to understand, stay grounded, choose kindness, hope, provide, care, love, and be great. Yes, you are great. You have shown greatness in the face of many difficulties before, and that same greatness and strength are still within you. Even if some of us don't feel it yet, remember that in our times of weakness, we are truly strong. The human spirit is designed to overcome and to win, and I know that you will triumph over this.

I also encourage us all to hold space for gratitude. Be grateful for yourself, for all the hard work, commitment, and passion you have poured into your work, touching many lives, especially those of the vulnerable. You came to this mission with a purpose meant to be fulfilled only by you, and thank you for fulfilling it with all your heart and soul. Also, be grateful for the relationships you have formed—the friendships, the small family you have nurtured here in IOM. Like all families, we are far from perfect, but we have learned from each other, and I believe in my heart that we will carry these memories and lessons wherever we go.

Lastly, let’s hold space for the promise and hope of a better future for all of us. As we take charge of our lives, we hope to create a more certain and secure future. Life, in its essence, consists of ups, downs, turns, and pauses. But I believe we have all been prepared for this moment, even before we knew it. One day, we will realize that the universe has taken its course to prepare us to face this challenge and emerge as victors.

As I end, allow me to share a passage that spoke to me during one of the most difficult times of my life. When I was 24 years old, more than a decade ago, I was the sole breadwinner of my family, which I think many of us are here, earning very little to provide for the basic needs of a family of seven and to send my younger sister to college. I was overwhelmed with hatred, worries, and desperation about how I could possibly manage it all. I was even angry at God, but a friend shared this passage with me, and I hope these words will speak to you as well. Matthew 6:26 says, “Look at the birds in the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” In the midst of changes and transitions in our lives, our value and worth do not change, we are valuable and worthy, and God’s care and provision for us are certain. All is well.
