Dear students, let me tell you about these amazing creatures! Giant pandas typically weigh 70-100 kg and grow to 1.2-1.9 meters in length. Their distinctive black and white coloring is truly unique in the bear family. They have special adaptations like a 'thumb' (actually an extended wrist bone) to grip bamboo, and strong jaw muscles for crushing tough bamboo stalks.

Would you believe these bears spend 10-16 hours a day eating? A giant panda needs to eat 20-40 kg of bamboo daily to survive! Despite being classified as carnivores, they've evolved to be 99% herbivorous, with bamboo making up almost their entire diet. How fascinating is that, folks?

Very interesting how China has used pandas in international relations! Since the 1950s, China has gifted pandas to other nations as gestures of goodwill. This 'panda diplomacy' has helped build cultural bridges between nations. Even our Budapest Zoo once hosted these magnificent creatures!

Uunfortunately, several factors have threatened panda survival: 1) Habitat fragmentation due to human development 2) Limited bamboo availability - their main food source 3) Low reproduction rates in the wild 4) Historical hunting, though now strictly prohibited 5) Climate change affecting bamboo forests. Climate change is threatening the bamboo forests pandas rely on—if bamboo shifts to higher elevations, pandas may not be able to follow. 6, Human Encroachment:
Infrastructure projects like roads and railways can disrupt panda migration and foraging patterns.
