It’s an interesting scene to witness, as it serves as a clear delineation from the standard ‘good defeats bad’ that reigns supreme through all other comics, and most other stories. It’s also interesting to witness how this idea is further expressed with Veidt detailing his plan after he’s already put it into fruition, and making sure to show as such to Rorschach and the rest. The New Frontiersman is spoken of by many throughout the novel as a right-wing propaganda outlet, even being implied to have radicalized Rorschach himself. However, these claims only serve to tell the reader about the content of the newspaper, with its excerpts actually being shown providing the readers with a chance to evaluate the journal’s merits themselves. In these pages,  panels of the detectives talking about the murder are interspersed with the scene of the actual murder, with the investigators’ dialogue serving as narration to the event itself. For example, one of the men says at the beginning of the sequence: “which means the occupant was home when it happened”, the reader is shown a scene of someone breaking into the victim’s home while he is watching television.
