Millions of livestock spend their entire lives eating synthetically manufactured fatteners to only gain unreal amounts of weight, and live chained to feed-lots forced to never have any more social contact than the cattle to their left and right.

I made sure the intensity of the calf’s dissected underbelly matched the gruesome and immoral methods used prior to dressing the toddler aged cow. The main courses presented within the calf are veal; which is the only use for calves, and traditional meat cuts, of which the majority are harvested & dispersed unethically between high priced restaurants and grease ridden fast food chains, all intertwined within organs and entrails. 

I have illustrated this poster to shock, repulse, and erupt empathy in my viewers for the millions of chemically polluted animals we eat daily. 

In 2022 alone, there were 51 school shootings that resulted in injury or death, with some of those being children in kindergarten. My poster presents an uncomfortable and intense scene, but that is the current climate we are in. I am very passionate about the prevention of mass shootings in America, and I can’t help but feel a deep sadness as a student watching schools become unsafe and the government continuously turning their backs on educators and students. 

Enough is enough. We are tired of having our classrooms become crime scenes.

Hi, my name is Ingrid. I am currently in my second year studying graphic design in the AAS program at Pratt. 

When it came to choosing a cause for the Posters for a Cause project I knew I wanted to create a poster for something that means a lot to me, so I chose ovarian 
cancer, specifically how talcum powder causes this cancer. 

Many companies in the U.S. still sell talcum powder and include other ingredients like tremolite as a component of their products. Talc and tremolite are known carcinogens. Johnson & Johnson manufactures one of the most popular talc based baby powders and is facing 40,000 lawsuits due to their talc based products. 

When talc based powder is applied to the genital area the talc powder particles travel through the vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes to the ovaries exposing them and their lining to the toxic substance. This exposure has been proven to cause ovarian cancer.

OCRA -the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance- is the world’s leader in the fight against ovarian cancer. Making a donation to them can help continue the research on, and help in the fight against ovarian cancer.

This semester’s show, "PRESSING MATTERS - Advocacy for social change, even when it's not pretty" pushes boundaries where creativity and skill, mixed with social responsibility and thinking outside of the box allow students to produce unique, creative, and engaging work meant to compel each viewer to take action and help bring about social change.
