The Apache people were nomadic herders. This means that the never really stayed in one area for too long, even though they did stay in the large area of what is now New Mexico, and West Texas, they moved around that general area often. The reason they moved around was for food purposes. They mostly survived on buffalo meat. They used the hide of the Buffalo as protective clothing. They were one of the first tribes to learn how to ride horses. By the 1700s a large portion of the Apache had migrated to the Kansas plains. They weren’t use to farming and living in the plains, but they made due with the crops that they did have like, corn, watermelons and beans.
