Title: Heated Trial for King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella
By Whitney Witthaus

Today the courtroom echoed with the prosecutor's argument against the King and Queen of Spain: "without you, Columbus would have been an unemployed sailor! You are to blame for the genocide of the Taíno people." In a dramatic trial that saw the King and Queen stand accused of murdering and mistreating millions of Taíno people after and around the year 1492, the defense responded by pointing to the distance between Christopher Columbus and the royal duo, claiming that they had nothing to do with his murder, and instead he was acting on his own murderous desires. They insisted that they only asked him to find land, not to kill the inhabitants of the land he found. I predict that the court will not be convinced by the defendant's argument. The prosecutor pointed out that they were aware of Columbus' mass murder and enslavement of the Taíno as can be seen in the letters exchanged between the two. Columbus made clear reports of his activities and even brought enslaved Taíno to Spain for the King and Queen to see. While we are still awaiting a verdict, the jury is likely to find King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella at least partially guilty for the crime at hand.

Christopher Columbus On TrialBy: Ashley Espinal On May 29th Christopher Columbus was put on trial for the the murder and mistreatment of millions of Taino Indians when he took his voyage to Hispaniola in 1492. He is being accused of ordering the genocide of an entire group of people and cutting off the hands of Tainos when they didn’t bring him the right rations of gold. To argue his innocence Columbus mentioned how all the things he did and the actions he took were ordered by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella themselves. He claimed that what he was responsible for was completing the tasks that were given to him by his superiors and if he didn't there would have been consequences. Columbus also proclaims that at the end he profited off of what he did without having to feel any remorse or guilt because all he mainly cared about was the money he got off of everything at the end. I believe that the jury feels that the reasoning Columbus gave to prove his innocence does not justify all of the monstrous and horrific things he did on his voyage to Hispaniola in 1492. I also believe that they are leaning towards Columbus being guilty as he continuously proclaimed that he has no remorse or regret for what he did as well as the fact that all cared about was the money he got, meaning that it wouldn't have affected him to murder millions of Tainos as long as he got money off of what he did.

The trial of Christopher Columbus

On Friday may 28 Spanish explorer Christopher Columbus was under trial for his heinous crimes against the Taino people Which include enslaving, murdering, and stealing from the Taino people. The defense asked for a not guilty charge and the reason they plead not guilty is because they said that everything that he ordered that his men were the direct orders of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain. He also said that the only reason he followed the orders was because he was employed by the king and queen and he knew that he was going to be compensated financially. The defendant Columbus also stated that he felt zero remorse for the crimes he committed. I Think that the jury was starting to agree with Columbus's statement that it was all the king and queens orders until he said he felt no remorse because i feel like someone who killed millions of people on someone else's accord would feel some sort of guilt or remorse but in the mind of the jury if you kill that many people with no remorse then it seems like you're killing them for your own motives which makes me think that the jury will find that Mr. Columbus is guilty. Also In the prosecutor's closing statement she stated that the king and queen told him to stop murdering the Taino people and stated that Columbus was blatantly lying in court which is also something that could sway the jury to a guilty verdict.

The Trial of the People vs. Columbus’s Men

Dear viewers of the Daily News,

On today's topic we have the trial of The People vs. Columbus’s Men. On trial, we had Colubus’s men which were the ones he traveled with. The defendant's attorney claimed negligence. They blamed Christopher Columbus as the person who was responsible for all of what they did. From our sources, we gather that Columbus’s men tried to victimize themselves and were not able to take accountability for what they have done. To summarize what the prosecutor said they claim they were just doing their jobs but no person who was just doing there would go to that extent, which really gets us to think. Columbus’s men, themselves, stated that what they did was made out of “survival.” When they were feeding infants to dogs, was that also out of survival? There you have it, my loyal readers, the events of what occurred in the trial of The People vs. Columbus’s Men. I can firmly say that the jury will convict them guilty. This case was beautifully handled by the prosecutor and the defendant's attorney who both put on a great case.

Article Title: The trail of Columbus’s Men By: Aryssa In today’s trials for Columbus’s men prosecutor argued that Columbus’s men above and beyond what Columbus asked them to do. They could have told Columbus, no but they choose to feed infant children to dogs and etc. The defense attorney responded by claiming that they were expected to follow what Columbus was telling them to do. Columbus told his men to chop off the hands of the Tainos had when he did not get the appropriate rations of gold or when they were not working hard enough. In questioning it was revealed that Christopher Columbus told his men that they could do anything that they pleased with the Tainos that were left on the island after they sent some of them back to Spain. It was also shown that Christoper Columbus himself threaten his men to kill the Tainos and if they did not it would bring shame to their family and that they will lose their jobs and they would not be able to provide for their families. He also made it know that if they did not do it he will get someone else to do it. Lastly, it was shown that Columbus men do not regret their actions because they were just following the orders that they were given. In their closing argument, the defendant explained that their clients were just following orders from Columbus and people that are higher, and if they did not complete these actions they could have been subject to execution or bashed from their home land never being able to see their families again. If they didn’t complete these actions they could have been lied to and told that the Taino people were going to slaughter them because of the presence of the dead bodies that they used for sacrifices. I predict the jury will be convinced by the defendant's argument because they have made a very strong statement that it was Columbus and that it was not their fault for what happened. While we are still awaiting a verdict, the jury is likely to find Columbus’s men not guilty of this crime.

Columbus’ Men Accused of Genocide?!

	Massi Coulibaly
Columbus’ men stand trial of being accused of the genocide of the Tainos in the years 1492 and ‘93. They had pleaded not guilty to these accusations.

The prosecutors had stated their claims to try and prove these men as guilty. The prosecutor uses hard evidence to back their claims and attempts to show the jury and judge that the men are guilty. It was explained that the men had the capability of making rational decisions, but decided against it. To simply paraphrase the prosecutor’s claims, the following could be said; “Columbus and his men made decisions to kill and attack the Tainos. They looked into the eyes of people while killing them, killing their infants and feeding them to animals. They obeyed evil commanders out of their own volition. They are without a doubt guilty. ”

The defendants now tried to prove their clients as innocent. They had said that Columbus’ men were not guilty because they were in a war against the Tainos. All these attacks and deaths were just results of war. They had included this because the Tainos did indeed retaliate against the acts of Columbus’ men when they had first come upon the Tainos’ land. The defendants had also stated that; “Columbus’ men were lied to by their commander, their leader, someone they were led to trust. If Columbus said the Tainos were savages and wanted to kill us so we had to attack first, we obeyed, we carried out the orders. He is their boss for a reason, what he says goes.”

To take a guess, the jury may believe that Columbus’ men are in fact not guilty. This is because the jury may take into account the fact that they are under the rule of a hand appointed man, chosen by their King and Queen themselves. They are obviously inferior and felt they had no other choice but to listen to Columbus’ orders. Who knows what would’ve happened if they didn’t obey, and the men did not want to take the chance to find out.

We recently had a grand court case as to where Columbus men were on trial, Charged with the death of millions of Tainos deaths.

The men constantly claimed that their jobs were threatened if they didn't do what Columbus asked them to do. They did it for the money, to support themselves and their families. Though this was easily diminished, as it was stated Columbus told them they can do anything they want with the Tainos. They made the choice to feed infant babies to dogs, they made the choice to slice Tainos to test out how “sharp” their swords are, Thus leading to a 90% decrease in the population of the Tainos. I’m sure our Judges are sure these men are guilty as charged!

Article Title: Christopher columbus men trial By: Sky RomanWrite here In today's heated courtroom, Columbus men were put into the trial that should have occurred 100s years ago. They completed columbus orders which lead to the genocide of the milions of tanios on the hispanola. According to Columbus men they "completed orders because they just followed orders even if they werent with good intention." they believed that it wasn't worth it they mentioned that Most of it was not worth it, but I promise you, it was originally all in self defense. It got out of hand for no good reason" from what was said in court today i think the jury was leaning towards not guilty there being they were just following orders.

By Mama Sylla
The Prosecutor contended in today's proceedings for the men of Columbus that the men of Columbus went beyond what Columbus had ordered them to accomplish. You could've told Columbus, but not just give babies to dogs, and so on. The defense counsel said that they should follow what Columbus told them to do. When he did not acquire the required portions of gold or if they were not working hard enough, Columbus commanded its soldiers to shake off Tainos' hands. When challenged, Christopher Columbus revealed that his soldiers were able, after some had returned to Spain, to do what they wished with the Tainos that had remained on it. Christopher Columbus also showed that he personally threatened his troops that Tainos would be killed, and if they did not, they would bring dishonor to their family, lose employment. He also said he'd hire someone else to do it if they didn't. Finally, it has been demonstrated that Columbus men do not regret their conduct since they only obey the orders they have received. Defendant indicated in his closing argument that his customers were only following directions from Columbus and those who are higher, and that, if they did not do these deeds, they would not have been executed or retired from home, since they could never see their families. Had they not finalized these activities, they may have lied to and said that because of the dead bodies they used for sacrifices the Taino people were going to kill them. I anticipate that the jury will be swayed by the arguments of the defendant since she has very strongly declared that it was Columbus and that it is not her responsibility. The jury probably will find Columbus guys not guilty of this offense while still waiting for a judgment.
