#1 Kitchen Princess 1, Illustrations by Natsumi Ando, Story by Miyuki Kobayashi

The book I have read was Kitchen Princess 1. Although by looking at it's cover, it does seem very girly, however do not ever underestimate a books cover because who doesn't love a book of food! In this book, Najika came from a place that she had to go to ever since her parents died. One day as a little child, she was just walking and crying because she missed her parents. She eventually trips and almost hits her head until a little boy catches her. She questions why he saved her and why he wouldn't let her go to heaven with her parents. The boy responds to her, handing her a flan with a tiny silver spoon. As the treat stopped Najika's tears, the boy couldn't stay with her forever. As he left, little Najika made sure that in the future, she would find him again.
Later on, she finds out that Seika Academy had the same logo as her little silver spoon. Then Najika studies really hard so she can get in and find her flan prince.
However, I would actually recommend reading this book if you love reading the topic of food. The portion of the book that I think people would like most is when Najika cooks up her really yummy treats and serves out her treats. There is also the life skill about not doubting yourself and trying to fit in when there are people judging who you are and if you have talent or not. You see, these things were things that Najika had to go through and she really did not think she could make it through since she thought she didn’t have any special talent. But her two only friends helped her find out who she really is.

#2 Heroes of Olympus; The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

The book I have read was The Lost Hero-- The Lost Hero. This is a book that I had no idea it was going to be awesome! In the beginning, this guy named Jason has no idea why he was in this one bus. He realizes that he was in this one sleep and when he wakes up, he forgets everything. As unfortunate it is for losing your memory, it seemed really upsetting for his" girlfriend". When he had awoken from his slumber, there was a girl asking him if he was okay or not. He asked who she was and where the heck he was and why was he there in the first place. She seemed really confused as to why he asked her that, however she did say that her name was Piper McLean and Jason's best friend was Leo Valdez. As they tried to figure things out, the three of them and a few other students ended up in the Grand Canyon. Jason soon sees this one goat man who looks like the head of this entire thing. When Jason asks why and what is he doing there, even the coach doesn't know, so Jason is still confused. Soon enough, a storm starts sparking up and this one guy seemed to enjoy this. Apparently, he was a storm spirit who started attacking them entire canyon.
Although, the beginning seems very common and it seems like any other book, the rest of it is like a whirlwind. I think this is a great book to read if you are interested in Greek Mythology because everyone finds out who are they the demigods of and they really start to embrace who they are what they are meant to do.

#3 Heroes of Olympus ;The Son of Jupiter by Rick Riordan

The book I have read this week was Heroes of Olympus, The Son of Jupiter. Although I have only read the first few chapters, I feel really intrigued by this book. In the beginning, Percy Jackson finds himself running from these flying hideous beasts. The try to eat, attack, and kill Percy. Every time he would attack them, they would rise back up from their ashes that lied on the ground. Soon Percy finds this pen that's in his pocket, but only soon seeing that it is his special sword called “Riptide”. As he take his sword out, he slashes the monsters and having them stay into ashes enough for him to find this homeless women. As Percy speaks to this women, he finds out that her name is June. June makes it seem like she is just a helpless and homeless old person. She asks Percy to take her across the ocean or path so she can stay at this one place called “Camp Jupiter”. Percy doesnt seem all that up for it until, she says that if he were to get June across the path, something good would happen to him. While Percy goes towards the path that June tells him to go through, they find themselves being chased after the monsters.

I personally found this book to be really interesting. However, I'd recommend this book to people who like Greek Mythology and who like a lot of action mixed in with intensity. The book's pace so far is pretty quick to jump into action but it doesn't leave out the detail.

#4 Dork Diaries #11; Tales From a Not-So Friendly Frenemyby Rachel Renee Russell

This book that I have chosen for this week's book review is called Dork Diaries Tales From a Not-So Friendly Frenemy. In this story, Nikki's school participates in a school wide student exchange program. Once she got note about the school that she's going to, she starts to freak out a bit. Although the school she gets to attend (North Hampton Hills) is a really expensive and hard school to get into, there is just one small problem. She has to got to the school that her greatest enemy goes to- Mackenzie Hollister! All that Nikki hopes for is that she and her friends go to the same place. Soon enough, her friends meet up and start saying that they are all in the same school! When Nikki hears this, she is happy and confused because how could they possibly know? Then on the count of three, they all shouted their school- South Ridge Middle School! Wait....what?! That school isn't at all like North Hampton Hills International Academy! As the friends of Nikki started saying what fun they will have all together, Nikki is just all sad. How will she ever survive this time with her enemy all by herself?
I think that people who are interested in the Dork Diaries Series would most likely be interested in this book because, this book tags along with the previous 10 book before this one. My reasoning for this is because, they had already gotten a lot of detail into the character and their back stories which is some of the explanations of some of the event that are happening throughout. But besides that, the storyline and plot behind this is really exciting and I just might think that it can more books to your reading list.

#5 The Unfairest of Them All, by Shannon Hale

For this week, I had read The Unfairest of Them All by Shannon Hale. This book is about a girl named Apple White and a girl named Raven Queen who both come from the same story that they must fulfill as their destiny. However, Raven is not fond of the part that she must play and she believes that she doesn't have to do what she doesn't want to do, so she rebels from her part. Although, when something goes on in another story system, Raven and Apple must do something before everyone's ending is threatened.
Growing up, I had always had a big love for this series and I thought this book was sucked and was great at the same time. I can stand behind this because this book had the excitement and intensity that we all love. But, it did take a while to get to the main point/ plot of the story. When I was reading the chapters I thought to myself, Why do I seem to keep coming across the same words even though I turned the pages a couple of time?" But then I had realized that the word usage was repetitive and also it was pretty slow to get to it's points. But, in spite of this book having slow points to get to, there were parts that had me hooked up for a while. For example, I got really hooked when everyone started having a food fight because they all wanted their stories equal (found near page 135 before and after)! If you like stories with slow beginnings but lead to an interesting body, I think this book is for you.😁

#6 My Little Pony; Friendship is Magic; The Journal of the Two Sister, by Amy Keating Rogers

Although I had only read a bit of this book, I really like this the story line of this. In this journal, Celestia and her sister, Luna have been asked to become the ruler of Equestria due to the final agreement if the Pegasi, Unicorns, and Earth Ponies. The journal has the exciting adventures of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna and what has been happening while they built a castle, guiding ponies, and other exciting things. Even though the two sisters don't have their cutie marks (their special mark that represents their special talent) they will always try their hardest to find that mark and rule Equestria in peace. Even though the sisters are a bit worried to rule, Starswirl the Bearded can trust them, would you? Do you ever think about reading a kid's book and actually finding it interesting? Well that is how I feel about this book pretty much because if you have been catching up with the TV series of My Little Pony, this is a MUST READ. Even if you don't watch this show, I still think that you guys should all read it since you can learn about the back story of the two sisters and how they began to rule. This journal is separated into two sections which is The Journal of the Two Sisters, and the Journal of Friendship which is written by the Mane Six. Even though the main part of the book is about the sisters, You should really take a look at the Friendship Journal because the lessons deep in them can really make you feel better about yourself (even if you think it's cheesy).

#7 A+ Core Hardware/Operating System Exams by Syngress Osborne Mc Graw Hill

For this book review, I had decided to read something that most people may not want to read. This is a book that my dad used so that he could pass an engineering exam, but for me, I found it to be a book that had a whole lot of information about COMPUTERS! The A+ Core Hardware/ Operating System Exams book has no story line, but it is just information piled among more information about the basics of computer parts! So far, I had learned that most of the computer parts are usually designed to perform one or a few tasks, however the processor or CPU (central processing unit) acts as the "brain" of the computer. This part of the computer is one of the most important parts due to how it receives requests you make upon the computer, determines tasks that are needed to fulfill the request, and translating tasks into signals that components are needed to understand.
Interesting RIGHT?! Well, if you are someone like me (I'm pretty sure you aren't really into this kind of book), you'll love this book! Okay, I'm being sarcastic but real at the same time. I think that even though this book is mainly used for computerizing exams, but if you are bored and you don't know what to read, why not give this book a shot! I mean after all, I think that reading about something new at a random time might spark up a new interest!
I mean, that's what worked for me! But even if you aren't into reading over 500 paged of computer parts and functions, I think that learning about something that we use a lot in the modern world can help us be more aware of situations that can occur int the future! But even so, I don't think that this is a practical book to go read for fun, however it is FUN!

#8 Painless Grammar by Rebecca Elliot, Ph.D. ;Second Edition

I'd recommend this book to people who like writing and for people who want to improve their writing as well. Here's why. So just like the last book I had done, this isn't a book with a story line in it, however I think that it is really beneficial and useful to future lives. In this "Painless Grammar" book, it mainly talks about different situations that conclude your bad grammar. For example, I found that the comma conjunction was one of the most useful pages saying that comma conjunction and comma usage is something I come to get wrong all the time. So something that I found as a useful tip was that you shouldn't use commas when you have a compound verb, or a verb that has two parts within it. So something that people get wrong a lot is in situations like this: Tori ate a big dinner, and slept soundly all night. While "Tori " is the subject of our sentence, our compound verb is "ate" and "slept". Although people may see our previous sentence as a "so called correct" sentence, you would have to think twice about it. I mean, you wouldn't want to write a sentence like: Tori ate, and slept. RIGHT?! But to wrap things up quickly, the correct usage of commas in this sentence is that you use no commas at all in the sentence. We already have components that block out the commas, so who needs them while using compound verbs in general!
Okay, so... Are you bored yet? I mean, growing up and mainly focusing on English, I always struggled with grammar, so if you are someone who loves to write but is not that good at grammar, this book is definitely for you. Though the title may make it kinda boring, the examples that they have are fun and also very useful as well. What I mean by this is that they have pictures to show the grammar point easier. So for the difficulty level, I would describe it by it's title. It's really painless because even though you may go through pain in grammar topics, this book's understanding level will make it so simple to understand. Overall, I think that this book is an entertaining book saying that it's to improve your writing and I would also say that for an informational book, the separation of topics is one of the main reasons this book would be easy to master. So in conclusion, if you want to get better at writing, you should totally read this "Painless" book. Ha, get it? Ha, no... okay.
